Georgetown Law offers numerous fellowships and scholarships to admitted LL.M. students: Students who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents may apply for financial aid in the form of loans. As part of the student visa application process, international students admitted to Georgetown Law must be able to demonstrate the ability to finance their entire course of study.

CTLS Alumni Scholarship (Georgetown CTLS Partner School Graduates Only) Georgetown Law is offering a 50% LLM tuition reduction to foreign-trained applicants who previously completed a semester at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS) in London while enrolled in a law degree program... This offer is available to applicants who enroll in a Georgetown LLM program in the 2026-2027 academic year or within 3 years of completing their law degree program at the CTLS partner school. The Blume Scholars program is an academic and professional development program for students who intend to pursue public interest legal careers. As a Blume Scholar, you will join Georgetown’s strong public interest community and receive a faculty advisor and public interest attorney mentor. You will also join the Public Interest Fellows program, and participate in a number of events throughout the year.

The Global Law Scholars program is an academic honors program for students who are interested in pursuing a career in international or transnational law. As a Global Law Scholar, you will have the opportunity to combine language skills and cultural familiarity with rigorous and directed legal training. You will also be able to cultivate critical skills needed to practice in today’s global legal environment. The Technology Law & Policy Scholars program gives students the opportunity to engage in rigorous academic work, develop their technological skills, and deepen their understanding of policy debates related to new and emerging technologies. As a Technology Law & Policy Scholar, you will have the opportunity to work in a hands-on environment and combine practical experience with a solid theoretical foundation. The average grant amount is $30,000. 2.38% of students received more than full tuition amount, and 38.32% received more than half, but not the full tuition amount. Each year Georgetown University awards several hundred need-based scholarships to eligible undergraduates. Individual awards range in value from $1,000 to more than $60,000 per year, depending on the student's financial need. 90% of students with LSAT scores higher than 166 receive merit scholarships as law school students. While it is easier to get a scholarship with a high LSAT score, those with an LSAT score lower than 140 still have a 16% chance of receiving a merit scholarship.

Georgetown considers legal scholarship and writing essential to professional excellence and offers many opportunities for students to develop their abilities in this area. In this advanced course, students will learn the concepts and skills needed to research complex legal problems. This course will cover a wide range of legal research topics, including statutes, legislative history, court and government documents, administrative materials, practitioner tools, secondary sources, and specialized legal research. Students will also gain hands-on experience developing, implementing, and documenting appropriate research strategies, conducting research in an efficient manner, and citing resources appropriately for a professional-level work product. Grading will be based on class attendance and participation, a series of research assignments, and a take home exam.

Students are selected based on their demonstrated interest in tax policy and their potential to excel in tax scholarship. Scholars receive full or partial tuition awards and participate in an enrichment program with leading tax practitioners and government officials. Graduate Tax Scholars will complete a substantial research paper on a tax-related topic, either in a seminar course or as a Graduate Independent Research. Scholars may generally not accept paid employment outside of the Law Center during the academic year, although they are free to apply for academic externships. To apply, indicate your interest in being considered for the scholarship on your LL.M. application form, and submit a supplemental essay of 500 words (max) on an issue of tax law or policy that is of interest to you. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. However, initial scholarship offers won’t be made until at least early March. A COST Fellow receives a $7,500 stipend (paid directly to Georgetown Law Center to be applied to your tuition) for a two-semester internship at COST. A COST Fellow is expected to commit 10 hours per week to COST during the school year (excludes final exams) and COST will pay its fellows for any work in excess of 10 hours...
