Georgetown Law offers numerous fellowships and scholarships to admitted LL.M. students: Students who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents may apply for financial aid in the form of loans. As part of the student visa application process, international students admitted to Georgetown Law must be able to demonstrate the ability to finance their entire course of study.

Our general merit scholars program is our largest scholarship program for which all admitted students are considered.

Blume Public Interest Scholars (formerly Public Interest Law Scholars) The Blume Public Interest Scholars program provides three-year full tuition scholarships and other professional and academic support to selected incoming Georgetown students dedicated to practicing... Grants and Scholarships At Georgetown University Law Center, 60.67% of enrolled students received grants and/or scholarships. The average grant amount is $30,000. 2.38% of students received more than full tuition amount, and 38.32% received more than half, but not the full tuition amount. Each year Georgetown University awards several hundred need-based scholarships to eligible undergraduates. Individual awards range in value from $1,000 to more than $60,000 per year, depending on the student's financial need.

90% of students with LSAT scores higher than 166 receive merit scholarships as law school students. While it is easier to get a scholarship with a high LSAT score, those with an LSAT score lower than 140 still have a 16% chance of receiving a merit scholarship. Georgetown Law is easily accessible by multiple modes of transportation and is within walking distance of three different Metro stops (Judiciary Square, Union Station, and Gallery Place [Chinatown]). It sits on two city blocks and is composed of five buildings and two greens. McDonough Hall is the academic and administrative center of the campus. The Edward Bennett Williams Law Library houses the fourth largest academic law library collection in the nation. The Eric E. Hotung Building brings all the major components of Georgetown’s international programs under one roof.

The Scott K. Ginsburg Sport & Fitness Center features a four-lane lap pool, cardio and weight training equipment, basketball and racquetball courts, as well as a café and lounge area. The Gewirz Student Center provides housing in apartment-style accommodations. While the majority of LLM students choose to live in one of the many surrounding apartment complexes, some do choose to live in Gewirz every year. Georgetown Law awards a small number of partial merit based scholarships for applicants to the LL.M. Degree Programs.

Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis, and priority is given to applicants who apply by the published deadlines. Georgetown Law will select applicants for awards on the basis of their LL.M. application. No separate application or documentation is necessary. Georgetown considers legal scholarship and writing essential to professional excellence and offers many opportunities for students to develop their abilities in this area. For more information about our Legal Writing and Scholarship curriculum and programs, visit the legal writing page or view the list of available courses. In this advanced course, students will learn the concepts and skills needed to research complex legal problems. This course will cover a wide range of legal research topics, including statutes, legislative history, court and government documents, administrative materials, practitioner tools, secondary sources, and specialized legal research. Students will also gain hands-on experience developing, implementing, and documenting appropriate research strategies, conducting research in an efficient manner, and citing resources appropriately for a professional-level work product. Grading will be based on class attendance and participation, a series of research assignments, and a take home exam.

As a result of this class, students will be able to: Prerequisite: Legal Practice: Writing and Analysis. The Global Law Scholars Program (GLS) prepares students for transnational practice in which they regularly encounter problems that involve more than one legal system. The aim is to combine language skills and cultural familiarity with rigorous and directed legal training so that Scholars are ready to practice in the global legal environment of the 21st century. Approximately 20 Scholars are selected each year. The Blume Public Interest Scholars Program provides financial, community, professional, and academic support to selected Georgetown students who are dedicated to practicing law in the public interest.

Blume Scholars receive faculty and attorney mentors and participate in the Blume Upper Class Seminar. Up to twenty Blume Scholars will be chosen each year. Combining unparalleled access to Georgetown alumni, practical coursework, and a unique mentoring program, students selected for the competitive Business Law Scholars program will work closely with faculty leads to develop the business acumen required... The Transfer Student Peer Mentor Program provides additional support and resources for new J.D. transfer students. Georgetown Law’s Tech Law & Policy Scholars program, launched in September 2017, formally recognizes students’ deep focus in the field.

Tech Scholars participate in two year-long seminars in their 1L and 2L years.
