…But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. I reached the curb in front of the airport, where my friend would pick me up. I was calm and relaxed and thought of the great conversation we would have. To my surprise, she wasn’t there yet. That was odd because she’s the kind of person who is never late for anything. I remained calm and peaceful.

I spotted what I thought was her car and took a step forward, but the car went past me, and there was a stranger in it. Not more than three minutes had passed, but I realized I was anxious and worried. What had happened to her? Had she been in an accident? Did she forget me? From calmness to anxiety in less than three minutes, and nothing had changed—nothing except my mind.

Worried thoughts struggled inside me. I pulled out my cell phone and started to dial, when I heard a car honking, as she pulled up to the curb. My mind shifted once again to calmness, even joyfulness. How quickly my emotions had shifted in that short period of time. My mind had quickly changed when my circumstances did. Sometimes I find it easy to hear God speak, and to believe without any difficulty.

Yet at other times, worry and anxiety push their way into my mind. The Bible says we are to walk by faith and not by sight, but that day at the airport, I was definitely being led by what I saw. When we worry, we are not walking in faith and trusting God. “Insight for Today” is a daily devotional written by Chuck Swindoll that brings God’s Word to life. . . and Finding Hope, Part 1December 24, 2025 “At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” The Christmas season looks back to the time when the Son of God first came to live among us and to bring us salvation. But this season has a forward-looking aspect as well.

Christ has come, and Christ is coming again. As we turn the page on our Christmas celebrations, we can also be filled with anticipation for Jesus’ return. Jesus spoke to his disciples about the anguish and uncertainty of human existence in this world. Natural disasters, wars, political unrest, personal disappointments, sins we have committed, and wrongs we’ve suffered from others—all these things are a part of the “anguish and perplexity” we face in everyday life here on... But Jesus has promised that he will return—as the Lord of all creation. And on that day our redemption will be complete.

Though we celebrate Christmas as a season of promise, new life, peace, and hope, in reality our lives here on earth are full of troubles and doubts. But Jesus the Savior has come into this world, and we have the promise that he will come again. “Lift up your heads,” he says to us, in effect. Christ offers hope and confidence to all who look to him, giving assurance of a future, full life that will never fade (see Revelation 21-22). May that hope be yours today. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God,... (v. 2) During a banquet, servants look intently at the hand of their master. If the master makes a slight hand gesture, the servant recognizes the signal and quickly attends to the master’s request. This is what is meant when we say that a servant is at the “beck and call” of the master.

Similarly, two behaviors that should always accompany our prayers are watching and waiting. In Psalm 123, the attentiveness of a servant illustrates praying with focus. The people of Israel lift up their eyes to God in heaven, waiting on him to act on their behalf and watching for his prompting to direct their actions. One of the Old Testament names of God is Jehovah-Jireh, which means “The LORD will provide.” God is our provider. When we are in need, he is the one who can fulfill those needs. The people of Israel prayed for peace and deliverance from the contempt of proud nations.

This was something only God could give them, so they cried out to him and prayed for mercy. When you pray, do you find yourself both watching and waiting on God? As we pray and wait, let us also watch for the “hand of the master” to direct our actions. —Brad Haitsma As you pray, ask God to help you look to him with patience and vigilance. Celebrating Christmas And The Birth Of Jesus

"When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. 'Get up,' he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."" Matthew 2:13 In the middle of the night, an angel woke Joseph with urgent instructions: flee to Egypt. Herod wanted to kill Jesus, and Joseph had to act immediately. Following God doesn't guarantee comfort.

Joseph, Mary, and Jesus became refugees - leaving home, traveling to a foreign land, waiting in uncertainty. But God was with them, protecting and guiding them through every step. If you're in a hard transition, trust God. Obey quickly. Wait patiently. He goes with you, even when the path is difficult.

Father God, help me trust You in every situation and transition. Give me courage to obey immediately when You speak to me and faith to wait on Your timing. Please help me to hear your voice clearly in the busyness of life. Amen. God guides me through everything, and I will trust His direction and wait for His timing.
