“Insight for Today” is a daily devotional written by Pastor Chuck Swindoll that brings God’s Word to life. Below are devotionals from the previous 30 days. Life gets complicated over time and it’s easy to lose your way. Maybe it’s time to get back to the basics and remember your First Love. As you consider a gift for dad when his special day comes around, look him in the eye or call him on the phone and give him the gift he needs more than anything. Give him your love.

Three good questions to ask when considering a choice are, is it wise? Do I have peace? Does it show respect for other people? When grace fuels us to forgive someone who has offended us, we abundantly release every hint of any offence. When grace is cultivated in our relationship with a friend, an abundance of bountiful freedom marks our friendship. The same bountiful abundance occurs when grace is the motivating factor prompting our giving.

In other words, living by faith includes giving by grace. Our natural response to suffering is resistance. But if we welcome rather than resent it, suffering gives us the opportunity to stretch our faith and deepen our confidence in God. Featuring messages and books by Charles R. Swindoll mentioned on recent broadcasts such as: Romans: The Christian’s Constitution, Volume Two Winner of the 2018 Christian Book Award for Bible of the Year.

I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power.I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love... (Psalm 40:10) If I heard that once during Marine boot camp, I must’ve heard it four dozen times. Again and again, our outfit was warned against hearing one thing, then passing on a slightly different version. You know, changing the message by altering the meaning a tad.

It’s so easy to do, isn’t it? Especially when it’s filtered through several minds, then pushed through each mouth. It is amazing how the original story, report, or command appears after it has gone through its verbal metamorphosis. It’s so easy to do, isn’t it? Especially when it’s filtered through several minds, then pushed through each mouth. It is amazing how the original story, report, or command appears after it has gone through its verbal metamorphosis. A colonel issued this directive to his executive officer:

Tomorrow evening at approximately 2000 hours, Halley’s Comet will be visible in this area, an event which occurs only once every seventy-five years. Have the men fall out in the battalion area in fatigues, and I will explain this rare phenomenon to them. In case of rain we will not be able to see anything, so assemble the men in the theatre and I will show them films of it. By the order of the colonel, tomorrow at 2000 hours, Halley’s Comet will appear above the battalion area. If it rains fall the men out in fatigues; then march to the theatre where the rare phenomenon will take place, something which occurs only once every seventy-five years. Looking for a role model on how to handle criticism?

It would be worth your while to check out the book of Nehemiah. On several occasions this great-hearted statesman was openly criticized, falsely accused, and grossly misunderstood. Tough days. We all have them. And most of us, if we’re honest, must admit we don’t handle them well. Others who love us try to help, but they tend to complicate matters.

Tough days. We all have them. Some are worse than others. Like the one the hard-hat employee reported when he tried to be helpful. We’ve been talking about what I’m calling “witch hunting,” the phenomenon affecting our world in which people are eager to find the Devil in every nook and cranny and to blame him for just... There is a general heading under which all this falls.

It’s called “witch hunting.” Not just blaming Satan for every evil action, but finding him in every nook and cranny...thinking that he is the subtle force behind all wicked events and encounters. I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power.I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love...
