“At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” The Christmas season looks back to the time when the Son of God first came to live among us and to bring us salvation. But this season has a forward-looking aspect as well. Christ has come, and Christ is coming again. As we turn the page on our Christmas celebrations, we can also be filled with anticipation for Jesus’ return. Jesus spoke to his disciples about the anguish and uncertainty of human existence in this world.
Natural disasters, wars, political unrest, personal disappointments, sins we have committed, and wrongs we’ve suffered from others—all these things are a part of the “anguish and perplexity” we face in everyday life here on... But Jesus has promised that he will return—as the Lord of all creation. And on that day our redemption will be complete. Though we celebrate Christmas as a season of promise, new life, peace, and hope, in reality our lives here on earth are full of troubles and doubts. But Jesus the Savior has come into this world, and we have the promise that he will come again. “Lift up your heads,” he says to us, in effect.
Christ offers hope and confidence to all who look to him, giving assurance of a future, full life that will never fade (see Revelation 21-22). May that hope be yours today. …But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. I reached the curb in front of the airport, where my friend would pick me up. I was calm and relaxed and thought of the great conversation we would have. To my surprise, she wasn’t there yet.
That was odd because she’s the kind of person who is never late for anything. I remained calm and peaceful. I spotted what I thought was her car and took a step forward, but the car went past me, and there was a stranger in it. Not more than three minutes had passed, but I realized I was anxious and worried. What had happened to her? Had she been in an accident?
Did she forget me? From calmness to anxiety in less than three minutes, and nothing had changed—nothing except my mind. Worried thoughts struggled inside me. I pulled out my cell phone and started to dial, when I heard a car honking, as she pulled up to the curb. My mind shifted once again to calmness, even joyfulness. How quickly my emotions had shifted in that short period of time.
My mind had quickly changed when my circumstances did. Sometimes I find it easy to hear God speak, and to believe without any difficulty. Yet at other times, worry and anxiety push their way into my mind. The Bible says we are to walk by faith and not by sight, but that day at the airport, I was definitely being led by what I saw. When we worry, we are not walking in faith and trusting God. Explore LHM’s library of resources for personal spiritual growth

I will do this so you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.” Isaiah 45:3 (NLT) There’s a story in Luke 2 that feels startlingly human. Mary and Joseph were returning home from Jerusalem after Passover when they realized something unthinkable: 12-year-old Jesus was missing. Imagine their confusion and desperation. They searched for three days before finding Jesus in the temple, sitting among the teachers and asking questions. Celebrating Christmas And The Birth Of Jesus
"When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. 'Get up,' he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."" Matthew 2:13 In the middle of the night, an angel woke Joseph with urgent instructions: flee to Egypt. Herod wanted to kill Jesus, and Joseph had to act immediately. Following God doesn't guarantee comfort.
Joseph, Mary, and Jesus became refugees - leaving home, traveling to a foreign land, waiting in uncertainty. But God was with them, protecting and guiding them through every step. If you're in a hard transition, trust God. Obey quickly. Wait patiently. He goes with you, even when the path is difficult.
Father God, help me trust You in every situation and transition. Give me courage to obey immediately when You speak to me and faith to wait on Your timing. Please help me to hear your voice clearly in the busyness of life. Amen. God guides me through everything, and I will trust His direction and wait for His timing. I’ve been editing Catholic content for 25 years, and let me tell you—there’s no shortage of spiritual advice out there. But most of it’s either too dry to keep you engaged or so fluffy it won’t stick. That’s why I’m cutting through the noise with daily Catholic readings for today and reflections that actually feed your faith. No gimmicks, no filler—just the meat of Scripture and wisdom to chew on. You won’t find some flash-in-the-pan trend here. I’ve seen fads come and go, but the power of daily Scripture and reflection?
That’s timeless. Whether you’re a lifelong Catholic or just dipping your toes in, these readings and reflections are your daily bread. They’re the quiet moments that anchor your day, the words that challenge and comfort in equal measure. So here’s the deal: I’m giving you Catholic readings for today and reflections that don’t just sound holy—they are holy. No pretense, no overcomplicating. Just the Word, straight up, with a side of insight to help it land.
Because faith isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about letting the Gospel take root in your life. And that starts right here, right now. I’ve seen a lot of faith-building methods come and go, but one thing’s stayed constant: the power of daily Catholic readings to deepen your relationship with God. You won’t find magic here—just a practical, battle-tested approach to making the most of today’s readings. Here’s how to do it right.
Don’t treat this like a chore. I’ve watched too many people rush through readings just to check a box. Instead, approach it like a conversation. Set aside 10-15 minutes—no distractions. Light a candle if it helps. The point is to create space for God to speak.
