Watch Commanders Qb Jayden Daniels Suffers Gruesome Injury Against
What was meant to be a night of nostalgia and renewed hope for the Washington Commanders turned into heartbreak. The team’s return to Northwest Stadium, donning their iconic Super Bowl-era uniforms, was supposed to serve as motivation to turn their 3-5 season around. But instead, the evening ended in despair as quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome left arm injury in the fourth quarter of a 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. After missing the previous week’s 28-7 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, Daniels returned to the starting lineup for this primetime clash, seen as a much-needed boost for a team desperate to stay in... However, his comeback was overshadowed by tragedy late in the game. Daniels was scrambling toward the end zone on second-and-goal with the Commanders trailing by 31 points when he was tackled awkwardly.

The team has a history of the star quarterbacks being lost to injury. Jayden Daniels was injured Week 9 on “Sunday Night Football” when he suffered a gruesome left elbow dislocation.
Daniels is now part of the Washington fraternity of quarterbacks with injury troubles, including Alex Smith, Robert Griffin III, and Joe Theismann. Similar to Daniels, Theismann’s injury took place on primetime television, this time on “Monday Night Football” in 1985. Theismann’s leg broke after New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor landed on it. Taylor can immediately be seen yelling to the sideline for medical staff. Similar scenes unfolded on Sunday. But, Daniels has not been placed on injured reserve.
Head coach Dan Quinn said Daniels suffered no ligament damage and will not need surgery. Meaning, there is a possibility Daniels could return this season if the hole they dig isn’t too deep. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a brutal arm injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s game against the Seahawks on Sunday night. Daniels, with the game already well out of hand, scrabbled to his right and was sacked at the Seahawks’ 4-yard line on the play by Seattle linebacker Drake Thomas. As Daniels tried to brace himself with his left – and non-throwing – arm, his elbow snapped in the wrong direction and was potentially dislocated. Commanders coach Dan Quinn called it a “left elbow injury” and did not have more details at the time.
Daniels’ teammates immediately kneeled down around him in a somber scene at Northwest Stadium. “It’s really tough to see him go down. You just want him to stay positive,” Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner said. “You don’t know what the result is. You just speak a lot of positivity into existence. He’s a very positive person so we’re just praying for the best.”
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' gruesome injury was not bad enough to guarantee his season is over. According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, Daniels' dislocated left elbow was not even severe enough to land him on injured reserve. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Nov. 7 that Daniels managed to avoid any ligament damage in his elbow and will therefore avoid surgery. Glazer said on Nov. 9 that Washington plans to re-evaluate its starting quarterback in three weeks, setting up a potential return to action shortly after the team's Week 12 bye.
In the meantime, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota will continue to start behind center for the Commanders. In four starts this season, Mariota is 1-3. Daniels remains out for the Commanders' Week 11 game against the Miami Dolphins. The two teams will face off in Madrid, and two Hawaiian quarterbacks will start against each other for the second time this season – Tua Tagovailoa for the Dolphins and Mariota for the Commanders. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome injury to his non-throwing arm during Sunday night's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said postgame that Daniels has an elbow injury, according to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.
Daniels hurt himself in the fourth quarter while getting tackled at the end of a run with the Commanders trailing 38-7. The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year walked off the field with his left arm in a cast and went into the X-ray room. He completed 16 of 22 pass attempts for 153 yards and no touchdowns against one interception before exiting. The 24-year-old also had 10 carries for 51 yards and one TD.
