Commanders Jayden Daniels Suffers Gruesome Arm Injury In Msn
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Daniels will have an MRI on Monday to determine how long he's out, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the plan. The belief, per Rapoport, is that the injury (to his non-throwing arm) might not be as bad as it could have been, but the signal-caller is expected to miss several games. Commanders coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Monday that Daniels dislocated his elbow but did not provide a timetable for the QB's return. The second-year quarterback suffered the injury when he was sacked by Seahawks defender Drake Thomas and was awkwardly slung to the ground. The serious nature of the injury was immediately evident, and Daniels' arm was quickly put into an air cast.
The Commanders (3-6) trailed the Seahawks, 38-7, with less than 8 minutes remaining when Daniels exited. Quinn said after the game there wasn't a conversation about pulling Daniels from the blowout loss, but he understands that it would have made sense in "hindsight." The hits just keep coming for the Washington Commanders. In a game where Washington already lost wide receiver Luke McCaffrey and cornerback Marshon Lattimore due to injuries, and entered the contest missing wide receiver Terry McLaurin, second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels now joins his... Upon first glance, his left elbow appeared to hyperextend when his left hand made contact with the ground to try to avoid being tackled while rushing to the end zone. NBC's broadcast captured the moment Daniels' arm looked to dislocate from its socket, as his left arm crumpled behind his back, and he collapsed to the ground.
The trainers were immediately on the field to put an air cast on Daniels' injured arm, and while the injury cart was brought out, Daniels left the field and entered the locker room of... X-rays reportedly came back negative, but Rapoport reported that Daniels will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine how much time he will miss. Coverage of injury: David Aldridge on why keeping Jayden Daniels in the game was a costly decision LANDOVER, Md. — Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow with just under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter of his team’s blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night, a... X-rays did not reveal a fracture, another league source said, but Daniels will undergo further testing on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury and his expected recovery time. Daniels’ left (non-throwing) arm bent backward severely at the elbow as he landed with his full body weight while being sacked near Seattle’s goal line. He writhed in pain as the Commanders’ medical staff rushed to his side and teammates dropped to one knee.
Daniels’ left arm was put in a large air cast as the entire Washington bench came to his side and a cart pulled up to take him to the locker room. “Gut-wrenching,” right guard Sam Cosmi said of the moment. “You could just hear the air being taken out of everybody in the stadium.” Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a brutal arm injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s game against the Seahawks on Sunday night. Daniels, with the game already well out of hand, scrabbled to his right and was sacked at the Seahawks’ 4-yard line on the play by Seattle linebacker Drake Thomas. As Daniels tried to brace himself with his left – and non-throwing – arm, his elbow snapped in the wrong direction and was potentially dislocated.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn called it a “left elbow injury” and did not have more details at the time. Daniels’ teammates immediately kneeled down around him in a somber scene at Northwest Stadium. “It’s really tough to see him go down. You just want him to stay positive,” Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner said. “You don’t know what the result is. You just speak a lot of positivity into existence.
He’s a very positive person so we’re just praying for the best.” What Commanders fans need to know about Jayden Daniels' status this week. Tired of scrolling? Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome injury to his non-throwing arm during Sunday night's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said postgame that Daniels has an elbow injury, according to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan. Daniels hurt himself in the fourth quarter while getting tackled at the end of a run with the Commanders trailing 38-7. The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year walked off the field with his left arm in a cast and went into the X-ray room.
He completed 16 of 22 pass attempts for 153 yards and no touchdowns against one interception before exiting. The 24-year-old also had 10 carries for 51 yards and one TD. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will undergo MRI testing to determine the severity of a dislocated elbow injury to his left, non-throwing arm that he suffered Sunday during a 38-14 loss to the Seattle... Daniels scrambled toward the sideline midway through the fourth quarter when Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas took him down. Daniels rolled over on his side and used his left arm to brace his fall. Jones reports that Daniels is expected to be put on injured reserve.
There is hope that Washington's franchise player will avoid injured reserve and not miss the rest of the season, per NFL Network. "It was a gruesome, gruesome-looking injury, but at its face, going into the MRI, maybe not as bad as it could've been. It is, in fact, a dislocated left elbow," NFL Network reports. "It's certainly going to knock Jayden Daniels out several weeks. My understandings is X-rays were negative, so that's a good sign -- no fracture. He's going to have an MRI [this week], maybe to give it a little more time and give it a cleaner read.
There's a possibility this is not a season-ending injury for Jayden Daniels." Daniels' elbow bent inward in an awkward way before trainers came to his aid, helping him off the field. The Commanders trailed 38-7 before Daniels' injury, much of that coming via Sam Darnold's perfect first half, which included four touchdown passes. "Obviously, I'm just gutted by it, I'm just bummed," Washington coach Dan Quinn said. "We didn't have any read plays on it, and the one he was injured on is usually a run or a throw to the flat. It's not a scramble.
It wasn't a designed read or play into that spot. If we run it 50 times, it's either a handoff or a throw 50 times."
