Espn S New Analytics Predict Round One Of The 2025 Nfl Draft
The 2025 NFL Draft is just three days away. After months of speculation, we will finally have answers to the questions surrounding each team's pick. Some teams, like the Cowboys, Buccaneers, Vikings, and Browns, are among those holding the draft hostage by not knowing what they will do. Meanwhile, teams like the Titans, Patriots, and Bears, where we have a better idea of what they may do. Despite that case for both instances, we still need to practice and, in this case, simulate scenarios for the draft. An exercise we want to do this week is to use all the best NFL Draft simulators at our disposal before the big day on Thursday.
We will use them to project what their algorithm has gathered in terms of information and projections leading up to Thursday. From there, we will then share those projections here as a first-round mock draft courtesy of the simulator. Today's tool is ESPN's analytics simulator. There is just one week left in the 2024 NFL regular season, and several fan bases are starting to think about the 2025 draft, which begins April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Let's take a look at the projected first-round draft order for all 32 teams using ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI). Each week during the season, ESPN's FPI projects the draft order by simulating the remainder of the season 20,000 times.
Game probabilities are based primarily on the model's team ratings and game locations. The draft order is determined by the records the model projects for each team after 17 games, as well as each team's average draft position across the simulations. Our FPI predictions gave the New York Giants the first pick after Week 16, but there has been a shift at the top of the board after their 45-33 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The New England Patriots are now in line to finish atop the draft board. Which teams are guaranteed to select in the top 10 behind them? Check out our full projections below ahead of Week 18.
Average draft position: 1.5 FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 78.1% FPI chance to earn top-five pick: 100% Average draft position: 2.6 FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 9.4% FPI chance to earn top-five pick: 93.9% The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin, as teams look to land their next big star from a deep pool of collegiate talent. If the draft feels overwhelming, you're not alone.
With hundreds of college prospects, complex draft mechanics, and constant speculation about which teams are eyeing whom, it can be a lot to take in. Thankfully, draft coverage is practically its own industry. The NFL reigns supreme in American sports, and that means there’s no shortage of expert analysis, tools, and resources widely available online. We’ve rounded up a few to help you navigate it all. Everyone and their second cousin has a mock draft these days, so knowing where to start can be overwhelming. But my personal favorite resource is The Ringer's NFL Draft Guide, for a few reasons.
First, I listen to their NFL podcasts and trust their coverage. Second, the guide is comprehensive. They have four different mock drafts from four of their experts (Danny Kelly, Diante Lee, Danny Heifetz, and Todd McShay), a big board, and a team need guide. And, finally, the Ringer's NFL Draft page is wildly easy to use. It's simple to navigate and allows you to dive deeper into every pick or player. You can also find mock drafts at ESPN, CBS, Yahoo, or pretty much anywhere else online.

ESPN Analytics has released the NFL Draft Day Predictor, which powers the 2025 mock draft simulator tool. The mock draft simulator allows users to act as the general manager of their favorite team, giving them the opportunity to make picks in all seven rounds and conduct trades throughout the draft. The model uses expert mock drafts, Scouts Inc.
grades and team needs to estimate the chance every prospect is taken at each pick. Chances are then calculated based on recent historical accuracy of the combination of the above info, including the chance of a trade. The Draft Day Predictor will be live throughout the draft, providing the percent chance of being picked at each slot for every prospect. The 2025 NFL draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The 2025 NFL draft is still more than nine months away, but I'm already digging into tape on the top prospects in the class, including a handful of potential franchise quarterbacks. And with NFL training camps on the horizon and the start of the 2024 college football season not far behind, I'm doing an early projection of all 32 first-round picks for next year's draft.
Our draft order for this exercise comes from ESPN's Football Power Index, which uses thousands of simulations to predict the 2024 NFL season. In turn, that gives us a 1-32 order, starting with the Patriots at No. 1. But would New England hang onto the top pick or trade it away to a QB-needy team? Spoiler: I projected two trades in this mock draft, including a deal involving the No. 1 selection.
Of course, a lot will change before teams are actually on the clock next April. Prospects will rise and fall on draft boards, and some of these players will ultimately return to school for another year. We have an entire season of game tape ahead of us -- and I admittedly haven't watched a ton on everyone just yet. So what follows is just an early look at what could happen based on what I've seen, what I'm hearing, what each team might need and what could make sense. Let's jump in. Note: Underclassmen are noted with an asterisk.

This year’s board is shaping up to be an interesting one, and ESPN’s Matt Miller released his final mock draft ahead of the first round. The Tennessee Titans took away all mystery this week when they announced they would stick and pick at No. 1. That bodes well for Miami quarterback Cam Ward to go atop the board, although there are questions farther down – specifically once the top three picks are over.
But question marks swirl around names such as Shedeur Sanders and Ashton Jeanty. Miller noted the lack of chalk in his final 2025 NFL mock draft, which is based on the intel he’s gathering from around the league. Here is how he sees the board shaking out with just over 24 hours to go until Draft Day. As the pre-draft process went along, it became increasingly clear Cam Ward would be the top quarterback off the board. The question was if the Titans would stay put, and the franchise came out Wednesday confirming it would – meaning Ward is likely to go No. 1 overall.
Ward declared for last year’s draft before transferring to Miami last season. He put together a standout year in Coral Gables, throwing for 4,313 yards and an FBS-leading 39 passing touchdowns while also showcasing his ability to improvise and make plays outside the pocket. After reading all the comprehensive mock drafts from our ESPN gurus, what's one more with a twist? Our NFL Nation reporters shared their expertise by making first-round selections for their teams as we close in on the opening pick of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday (8 p.m. ET on ESPN, ABC, ESPN App) in Green Bay, Wisconsin. There was no surprise at No.
1, as the Tennessee Titans took Miami quarterback Cam Ward, but the fun started after that. Despite a ton of speculation, there were only two quarterbacks taken, as offensive line became the focus after the top three picks. You can watch the full mock draft here, but without further ado, here are the picks: Turron Davenport's pick: Cam Ward, QB, Miami Strong consideration goes to pass rusher Abdul Carter and do-it-all playmaker Travis Hunter here, but quarterback is the top priority for the Titans. Tennessee fills its biggest void by taking Ward, the consensus top passer in the draft class.
Ward is a proven culture changer who will be charged with leading the Titans' return to respectability before they move into their new stadium in 2027.
