Early Intervention Training Program At The University Of Illinois
EITP sponsors numerous training events each year that support the mission and vision of the Illinois Early Intervention System. Our "Non-EITP Events" calendar also includes events from other sponsoring entities that have been reviewed by EITP for Early Intervention credit. These events are shared as training resources to the field. These reviewed events are posted to our training calendar as a courtesy not as an endorsement. Please check the calendar for the amount of credit for each event. Training events may be face-to-face or online.
EITP Events EITP Online Events Non-EITP Events EITP is funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Bureau of Early Intervention to deliver professional development to early interventionists serving children and families in the Illinois Early Intervention System. The mission of EITP is to develop a comprehensive system of personnel development that is regionalized, responsive and reflective of best practices in the field of early intervention. The Early Intervention Training Program at the University of Illinois (EITP) was formerly known as the Illinois Early Intervention Training Program. From July 1st, 2002 thru June 30th, 2013, Illinois Early Intervention Training Program was at United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Greater Chicago. Then on July 1, 2013, EITP was formed with the mission to build upon the achievements of the highly successful Illinois Early Intervention Training Program.
The core values, which serve as the foundation for EITP, and guide all of the work of EITP are Growth, Service and Belonging. Overall, the objective of EITP is to enhance the knowledge and skills of service coordinators, early interventionists, and other stakeholders. Launches Fall 2025 The Early Intervention (EI) graduate certificate will prepare you to implement recommended practices in early intervention (services for children 0-3 with disabilities or delays and their families). The coursework consists of content related to child development (0-3), family-centered practices, ethical practices, and collaboration and teaming. Students completing this certificate program can apply the course credits earned towards a master’s or a doctorate program upon admission to those programs.

The Illinois Early Intervention (EI) Clearinghouse is moving to the Early Childhood and Parenting Collaborative at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services, the EI Clearinghouse identifies, collects, and disseminates research-based and best-practice early intervention information (books, documents, online resources, and videos) for parents, practitioners, and early intervention professionals... The EI Clearinghouse will use state-of-the-art technology to share information, as well as traditional formats including printed, easy-to-read newsletters and short resource lists of new materials. Library materials will be delivered to parents and professionals by mail and through the statewide library delivery system. The range of products produced by the EI Clearinghouse-from easy-to-read print newsletters and resource lists (in Spanish and English), to access to Podcasts and RSS feeds-will ensure that the EI Clearinghouse can respond to... The Department of Special Education and the early childhood special education program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a certificate of specialization in early intervention for undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree-seeking students.
The certificate provides prospective or current early intervention providers with specialized knowledge critical for supporting children and families in Part C early intervention. While the certificate does not directly result in an early intervention credential, the courses count towards the core knowledge area requirements and can be applied to the credential or credential renewal. See Provider Connections' Core Knowledge Course Search website for more information. This certificate includes four two-credit courses that are offered completely online (synchronously). They can be taken in one year or spread out over time. They are taught by our faculty with experience and expertise in early intervention.
