EITP sponsors numerous training events each year that support the mission and vision of the Illinois Early Intervention System. Our "Non-EITP Events" calendar also includes events from other sponsoring entities that have been reviewed by EITP for Early Intervention credit. These events are shared as training resources to the field. These reviewed events are posted to our training calendar as a courtesy not as an endorsement. Please check the calendar for the amount of credit for each event. Training events may be face-to-face or online.

Welcome to the Illinois Early Intervention Training Program. Below you will find some helpful information that will help you navigate the requirements for new providers in the Illinois Early Intervention System. The Illinois Interagency Council on Early Intervention's "Principles of Early Intervention" guide the outcomes we hope to achieve through Early Intervention and our Early Intervention Training Model. All early interventionists in Illinois should adhere to these principles as they serve children and families. Early Interventionists may want to reflect on what each principles means to them and what it looks like in practice. This activity can be done individually, with peers, and with families.

Launched in September 2022, Be Part of Early Intervention has resources to help explore EI professions and a mailing list to join. The Be Part of EI video provides an overview of early intervention and explains how you may be able to help a family in early intervention. Additionally, this video from Personnel Improvement Center at NASDSE provides information about careers in early intervention, focusing on interviews with specialists themselves. The required Illinois Early Intervention System Overview trainings listed below must be completed within the 3 years prior to applying for an Illinois Early Intervention Credential. If completed more than 3 years before applying for the credential, individuals will need to repeat both.

The Early Intervention Toolkit includes a number of tools and resources for medical providers and families on developmental screening, the EI referral process, and more. Educating the public about the importance of early intervention and early childhood special education services for eligible children as early as possible in their development, the Child Find Project develops and disseminates informational education... IDHS’ Division of Developmental Disabilities provides services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The PUNS (Prioritization for Urgency of Need for Services) statewide database records information about individuals with developmental disabilities who are potentially in need of services.
In Illinois, enrolling in PUNS is the first step to the individual receiving state funded disability services outside the educational setting. This website for early intervention families and professionals provides a wealth of information on early intervention services in Illinois, tip sheets, a newsletter, Illinois EI program guide, lending library, blog and many other resources. The website is viewable in Spanish. The Early Intervention Training Program at the University of Illinois (EITP) was formerly known as the Illinois Early Intervention Training Program.
From July 1st, 2002 thru June 30th, 2013, Illinois Early Intervention Training Program was at United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Greater Chicago. Then on July 1, 2013, EITP was formed with the mission to build upon the achievements of the highly successful Illinois Early Intervention Training Program. The core values, which serve as the foundation for EITP, and guide all of the work of EITP are Growth, Service and Belonging. To read more about these values and how they guide EITPs work, please review the following possibility statements which further describe our team values. Overall, the objective of EITP is to enhance the knowledge and skills of service coordinators, early interventionists, and other stakeholders. The Principles of Early Intervention are the foundation for all EITP activities including the objectives and strategies that the EITP strives to achieve.
