The Washington Commanders are coming off a 27-18 Thursday Night loss to the Green Bay Packers. While Jayden Daniels and the offense had a tough time against Micah Parsons and company, they did have success at the tight end position. Daniels was able to find success throwing the ball to Zach Ertz who showcased his yards after the catch skill in scoring a touchdown for the Commanders. How impactful could the offense be with a younger tight end who is showing first round talent at Oregon. Yes, we are talking about Kenyon Sadiq who is one of the top tight end prospects to watch ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. So far in the 2025 season, Sadiq has 5 receptions for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Ducks.

His athleticism and ability after the catch is what stands out about Sadiq which could make him a perfect replacement to Ertz if the Commanders are locked in on the position entering the draft. In the team’s Week 2 loss to the Packers, the veteran tight end caught 6 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. Imagine a younger version of Ertz and you have Sadiq who could be a prime target for Daniels.

Adam Peters made the aggressive moves needed to potentially keep the Washington Commanders in the Super Bowl hunt during the offseason. Unfortunately, things have not gone as anyone associated with the franchise expected. It's been one disaster after another for the Commanders at the midseason point. Injuries have decimated the roster. Young players expected to progress haven't lived up to their billing. The NFL's oldest roster looks exactly that — a massive problem holding the team back right now.

Peters opted to stand pat at the 2025 trade deadline. Fans were anticipating a couple of outgoings, given the Commanders' slow start this season. But either no suitable interest arrived, or the offers weren't enough for the front-office leader to remove certain players from the equation. The Commanders will move forward with what they have over the second half of 2025. Even so, it's clear that Peters has an awful lot of hard work ahead when the next offseason arrives to get this ambitious project back on track. Using the Pro Football Network simulator, we took an early look at how Peters might approach his draft picks in a special seven-round midseason mock.

Trading future rookie picks feels like a roll of the dice. Will next year be a strong skill position class? Will certain be positions be stronger or weaker? Analysts will spout off about the strengths and weaknesses of a class, but putting it in context of other positions helps predict draft capital. Plus many of those analysts haven't even watched these players. Next year will mark the 23rd NFL Draft I have scouted and covered.

I've been producing seven-round mock drafts and rankings since 2004. The Titans could use more blocking protection for Cam Ward. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Fano has a lot of talent and has played well at tackle for the Utes. He has been a versatile tackle with 11 starts at left tackle and 13 at right tackle heading into the 2025 season. For the most part, Fano played on the left side in 2023 and on the right side in 2024. Fano is fast, athletic, and plays with a mean streak.

He is a force as a run blocker and shows a lot of athleticism to take away speed rushers. A lot of teams could fall in love with his tape. Unless Tyler Shough impresses over the final two months of the season, New Orleans will be looking for a true franchise quarterback. Simpson has been phenomenal in 2025, leading the Crimson Tide to some big wins against tough opponents. In 2025, Simpson has completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,461 yards with 21 touchdowns, an interception, and two rushing touchdowns. Simpson has shown some serious arm talent, making some beautiful throws downfield with superb ball placement to beat tight coverage.

In tight games, Simpson made some great passes to lead his team to wins over Georgia and Missouri. Simpson is accurate, smart, has a strong arm, and throws with timing and anticipation. Simpson has shown superb ball security this season as well, with excellent decision-making. The Giants grab a right tackle to help protect Jaxson Dart. The 6-foot-8, 309-pounder World dominated at Nevada, and if he plays as well at Oregon, he could skyrocket for the 2025 NFL Draft. As a pass blocker, World has a natural build with good size, strength, and length to play on the edge.

He does a nice job of sinking his weight to stop bull rushes, and he shows an impressive ability to kill speed to power attempts. World does an excellent job of sustaining his blocks with the upper body strength to tie up defenders. In the ground game, World uses his strong upper body to knock defenders back and push them around. He has real power at the point of attack and blocks with a mean streak. With overwhelming mass, he can knock defenders flat on their backs and will bury them with a violent pancake block. The Browns take their next hope for a franchise quarterback.

Mendoza has completed 71 percent of his passes for 2,342 yards with 26 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has two rushing touchdowns as well. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder has a quality arm, reads the field well, makes good decisions, and has dangerous pocket passing ability. Mendoza played well for Cal in 2024. He completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,004 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. Mendoza has good size, and it will be interesting to see how he develops at Indiana.

The Jets grab a franchise quarterback to build around. Moore has been a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,884 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. Moore (6-3, 203) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer. Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player.

Excitement is building ahead of the NFL season. The Washington Commanders look primed for another deep postseason run if everyone gets a clear run of luck on the health front. But for those in the front office and scouting department, attention is elsewhere. The college football campaign is officially underway. That means draft plans are already being formed behind the scenes as prospects increase or diminish their stock based on performances in a high-profile setting. Considering how the Commanders are always thinking two steps ahead with general manager Adam Peters leading the charge, the hard work has already begun to ensure Washington hits the ground running when the offseason...

And after two good drafts from the front-office leader so far, another will put this storied franchise on the right path to long-term prosperity. The Commanders have six picks as things stand. They don't have second or fourth-round selections right now after acquiring five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans. However, they got an extra sixth-rounder by shipping running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers. A lot can and will change in the coming months.

But using the Pro Football Network simulator, we took an early look at what the Commanders might need in this seven-round mock draft.
