BOSTON–What happened? Cedric Mullins hit two home runs and Albert Suárez threw six strong innings as the Orioles moved to within ½ game of the American League East leading New York Yankees with a 5-3 win... The Orioles (83-63) broke a three-game losing streak. Suárez allowed one run on four hits in six innings, striking out a career high eight batters. Seranthony Domínguez recorded his 10th save, ninth with the Orioles. Adley Rutschman added a two-run opposite-field single in the seventh inning after Mullins drove in the Orioles’ first three runs.

It was the second game for Mullins in the No. 2 spot in the order, and he’s feeling comfortable. “Yeah, just putting quality at-bats together. I think that’s been the main focus,” Mullins said. “Focusing on getting on base, creating some havoc on the bases and leading to some power, as well.” Baltimore Orioles’ Cedric Mullins, left, is congratulated by Anthony Santander (25) after his solo home run in the first inning of a baseball game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, Tuesday, Sept.

(AP Photo/Charles Krupa) BOSTON - Cedric Mullins hit two homers and drove in three runs, Albert Suárez gave up one run and struck out a career-best eight over six innings and the Baltimore Orioles held off the... Adley Rutschman added a two-run single for the Orioles, who won for the only the second time in six games as they attempt to catch the AL East-leading New York Yankees. Triston Casas and Masataka Yoshida each had an RBI double for Boston, which has lost seven of its last 11 in its pursuit of Minnesota for the AL's third wild-card spot.

Boston's Tyler O'Neill went 0 fox 3 with three strikeouts after hitting two homers in a victory on Monday. With Gunnar Henderson on first after a walk in the third, Mullins hit a cutter from Kutter Crawford (8-14) deep into the right-field seats to make it 3-0. It was his fifth career multi-homer game, the last coming against Toronto on June 19, 2021. The 34-year-old starter was impressive once again while the O’s offense was led by the red hot center fielder. After getting shellacked to begin the series, the Orioles bounced back in impressive fashion on Tuesday night. Led by Albert Suárez on the mound and Cedric Mullins at the plate, the O’s topped the Red Sox 5-3 at Fenway Park.

The Orioles offense has had some well-documented struggles in recent months. Tonight’s performance was not their finest on the season as they went just 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base. However, they did manage to reach the magic number of five runs scored, collected 10 hits, and walked four times. All in all, an encouraging day at the office. Cedric Mullins got things started with a bang in the first inning. Batting second, the resurgent Mullins took a Kutter Crawford fastball and lifted it into the air at a ridiculous 44 degree launch angle.

It traveled just 334 feet and had an expected batting average of .030. But because this game was played at Fenway Park, it still snuck inside the Pesky Pole to give the O’s an early 1-0 lead. That wasn’t all Mullins would do on this night. The O’s center fielder must have eaten his Wheaties this morning because in the third inning he smacked his second home run of the game. This one was a no-doubter as Mullins laced a 407-foot fly ball deep into the Boston night, driving in Anthony Santander in the process. That pushed the Birds up 3-0 after three innings.

The Boston Red Sox win the series against the Orioles 5-3 in an amazing nailbiter. It went to extras, but Tyler O’Neill hit a walkoff for his 30th homer this season. The starter, Nick Pivetta, also had an amazing game. He went six innings, struck out nine batters, and only gave up a solo homer. It looked like the Sox had the game in the bag, leading 2-1 until the eighth inning, where reliever Justin Slaten gave up another homer, tying the game. In the start of extras, it looked very dicey.

Greg Weissert was the pitcher, and gave up a run to the ghost runner. It looked like another could have scored, but Weissert and the defense held strong, and brought up the offense. The first hitter being Rafael Devers made it seem like everything would be ok. That is, until he struck out on three pitches. Then, an error made by the Orioles put Romy Gonzalez on, and moved Jarren Duran to third. Then came up slugger Tyler O’Neill, who blasted a three-run bomb over the Green Monster, winning the game for the Sox.

The Sox will go to New York to face the Yankees for the final series against each other tomorrow at 7:10pm EST.
