The Seattle Seahawks looked every bit the part of a Super Bowl contender on Sunday night in Maryland as they delivered a dominant performance on both sides of the football in a 38-14 blowout... Sam Darnold was a perfect 16-of-16 for 282 yards and four touchdowns in the first half alone as Seattle compiled 418 yards of total offense and averaged over eight yards a play. Meanwhile, Seattle's defense completely shut down Jayden Daniels and the Washington offense before the Commanders' quarterback left the game midway through the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a gruesome left elbow injury. The victory keeps the Seahawks tied for the best record in the NFC at 6-2, and they have the second-best point differential in the conference at plus-81. Pouring on 31 first-half points behind a flawless Sam Darnold, the Seattle Seahawks cruised to a 38-14 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Nov.

2, at Northwest Stadium. The Seahawks (6-2) won their 10th straight road game, and are now 11-1 away from Lumen Field in the Mike Macdonald era. Washington (3-6) took a massive blow with the loss of Jayden Daniels late in the game. Here’s what we learned from a blowout Seahawks victory over the Commanders in Week 9. Sure, the Commanders were without their top wide receiver and had multiple other injuries that kept them from being full strength. But Daniels was in the game until suffering a gruesome arm injury midway through the fourth quarter (it was already 38-7) and Washington put forth their best effort until the end.

This is the best offense the Seahawks have had since at least 2020, and the defense is far better than that unit six seasons ago. That’s allowing Seattle to play complementary football, and their two losses have been by a combined seven points (those teams are also a combined 12-5). If you are at all like me, then your concern is with the injury status of one Ernest Jones, IV. The proverbial straw that stirs the drink, imo. But, when a player is sitting on the bench with a towel over his head, you know something is more wrong than usual.

Here’s hoping that he is okay, and with enough rest and grace, he’ll return to form. Thanks for being here with us at Field Gulls. We will keep y’all up to date throughout the week. The only losers were the Commanders and anyone who saw it fit to pick the Commanders to win! If you wanted the Seattle Seahawks to make a big statement on Sunday night, you got it and then some. The Seattle Seahawks smashing up the New Orleans Saints in Week 3 was fun but the Saints are an atrocious team.

I know the Washington Commanders are not a very good team, but to go on the road and pummel them when their backs are ostensibly up against the wall in terms of playoff hopes? This was a massive victory out of the bye, and there’s every reason to believe Seattle is a playoff contender. Let’s get to Winners and Losers after a 38-14 victory that was not nearly as close as the final score indicated. His first half was true perfection. No, literally. He was 16/16 for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Sam was only 5/8 for 48 yards and an interception after halftime, which is evidence that the decision by Mike Macdonald to bench him for Drew Lock was wholly justified. (AP Photo/Nick Wass) The Washington Commanders never had a chance. The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Commanders 38-14 on Sunday Night Football to improve to 6-2 on the season, dropping Washington to 3-6.

It was the Commanders' fourth straight loss, but what happened in the fourth quarter will overshadow the result of Sunday's game. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, attempting to finish a drive down 38-7, rolls to his right and his thrown down by a Seattle defender. Trying to break his fall, Daniels puts his left hand on the ground, suffering a gruesome injury. Teammates surrounded Daniels as he was attended to by doctors, who placed a cast on his left arm and left the field under his own power. It was a brutal night for Washington, which suffered its third straight loss by 21 points or more. Down 14-0, rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane fumbles the kickoff in Washington territory.

Seattle literally scored on the next play, and it was 21-0. The 14-0 deficit felt too large, but once Lane fumbled, the game was officially over — in the second quarter. The Commanders are back at home next week against another NFC heavyweight: the Detroit Lions. Detroit is coming off a loss, so the Lions will look to punish the wounded Commanders — the team that knocked them out of the playoffs — next week at Northwest Stadium.
