No Kings Protests Planned Across Western Wa Saturday
WASHINGTON, USA — For the second time, "No Kings" rallies are scheduled to take place across western Washington in coordination with a nationwide demonstration against President Donald Trump and his federal intrusions into American... Ezra Levin, a leading organizer of Saturday’s protests, said the demonstrations are a response to what he called Trump’s “crackdown on First Amendment rights.” Levin, the co-executive director of the nonprofit Indivisible, pointed to Trump's sweeping immigration crackdown, his unprecedented promises to use federal power to influence midterm elections, restrictions on press freedom and retribution against political opponents. Protests are planned in more than 2,500 locations nationwide, including dozens in western Washington, from Bellingham down to Vancouver. Multiple rallies are scheduled within Seattle, including West Seattle, Ballard, Capitol Hill, Downtown, the University District, and Fremont. Another wave of No Kings rallies is planned in Washington this weekend, about four months after protesters gathered at sites around the state to demonstrate against President Donald Trump and his policies.
Like the June 14 protests, these new rallies on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Tacoma, Olympia, Bellingham, Tri-Cities and other communities statewide are in coordination with similar No Kings protests scheduled nationwide. Over 2,500 rallies and protests are planned in the U.S., The Fresno Bee reported. “In June, we did what many claimed was impossible: peacefully mobilized millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice: America has No Kings,” according to the national No Kings... The new events are “in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration, which they have doubled down on since June,” the website said. SEATTLE — Thousands of protesters marched through downtown Seattle on Saturday as part of the ‘No Kings’ demonstration against the Trump administration. The protest began at Seattle Center with speeches and rallying calls, where Congresswoman Pramilla Jayapal called out President Donald Trump. “He has politicized the entire Justice Department and uses the federal government to go after his political opponents on a revenge tour all while he accepts luxury jets from foreign countries.” Pramila Jayapal, the... “We should not be fighting Nazis right now. This is not normal. We are underreacting as a people.” The fight doesn’t end here. No Kings was a beginning — a reminder that power belongs to the people, not to those who would rule over us. The work now is to stay ready, stay connected, and keep fighting back.
(The Center Square) – Cities across politically blue Washington state are set to participate in this weekend’s "No Kings Day" event, a series of nationwide protests and rallies against President Donald Trump's administration. The Saturday event is timed to coincide with a military parade planned in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, which also falls on Trump's 79th birthday and Flag Day. The No Kings Day event, also known as the “Day of Defiance,” is being organized by grassroots political action groups, including Indivisible and the 50501 Movement, to protest the Trump administration's policies, which they... Several counterprotests against the events in the nation’s capital are set to occur in Washington state.
