nfl mock draft 2025 travis hunter falls to new team in latest first

The 2024 College Football Playoff is upon us and the NFL season is wrapping up. Thus, we begin the best time of the year: draft season! This class is certainly interesting, and through the 2024 season we’ve seen a lot of risers and fallers throughout the process. I still think this draft class is incredibly strong in places where people have decided there is no value, and it’s reflected in the first round. There are two running backs and three tight ends in the first round compared to only three receivers and two quarterbacks, possibly a reflection of where the strengths in this class lie. This is a very strong class at running back, with my top two backs having a lot of versatility in various run schemes.

In addition, there are some very high quality tight ends, and as the NFL shifts to a 12 personnel world, they become much more valuable. Conversely, I really like this defensive class. There are a lot of very good trench players, and a versatile group of EDGE defenders throughout. We could see a run on defensive players early in this draft. Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter just won the Heisman, and while we’ve had him go No. 1 overall in previous projections, here he slips a little bit to a team that could desperately use him.

With that being said, here’s the third iteration of the 2025 NFL Mock Draft. Sanders gets a lot of flak considering what his last name is, but he’s the best QB in the class to me. He shows good processing, poise and has great touch and accuracy from the pocket. He gives head coach Brian Daboll (or whoever coaches the Giants) a pocket passer they can build around. Week 14 of the NFL season featured multiple key results for teams at the top of the 2025 NFL draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars' 10-6 win over Tennessee dropped the team from the No.

1 overall slot to No. 5. For the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants, another loss pushed them to the top of the first round. Week 15 will have more consequential matchups for the NFL draft order. A quarter of the league has three wins or less this season so each game could drastically change the top of the draft in a class that isn't as top-heavy as the 2024 class. Here's our latest mock draft prediction for the first round:

The Raiders pick No. 1 overall and pick a quarterback. For this mock, we're going with the firework creator from south Florida. Ward's impressive arm strength, elusiveness in the pocket and character make him a top pick. He does need to clean up the careless decisions that have gotten him in trouble at times in Miami, though. New York goes with another quarterback here in Sanders, who brings arguably the highest floor of any quarterback prospect in the class.

Sanders' timing, accuracy and poise in the pocket will be a welcome change in New York. He'll feed Malik Nabers the ball and will hang tough in the pocket, at times to his detriment. He doesn't have a rocket arm or mobility like Ward but he is an NFL-level starter. The top of the 2025 NFL draft will be an interesting one, as two quarterbacks —Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders—could be in the top three picks and Travis Hunter, who starred at both cornerback... So where with those three star players land? More mock drafts are having Ward going No.

1 to the Tennessee Titans and Sanders going No. 3 to the New York Giants. This week Mel Kiper Jr.'s new mock draft had Hunter falling to the Patriots at No. 4. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah also released his latest mock draft this week and he too has Hunter slipping to the Patriots at No. 4 after Ward (Titans), Abdul Carter (Browns), Sanders (Giants).

Here's his explanation for why Mike Vrabel and New England wouldn't be able to pass up on the two-way star: Bolstering the offensive line would seem to be the obvious move here for the Patriots, but it would be tough to pass up such a unique talent like Hunter. He would immediately be their most potent weapon for Drake Maye. That would be a big move for the Patriots and would lead to an interesting decision for the team on how to use Hunter. You have to think Maye would love to have such a weapon in his second year with the Patriots, especially if they are able to land Stefon Diggs, too, who visited the team this... The With the First Pick RV is back in the garage after making stops at the Shrine and Senior Bowls in recent weeks.

It's always good to see these players in person -- and yes, I've been accused (mostly by my podcast co-host Rick Spielman) of falling in love when I finally get eyes on these guys... (By the way, check out all our podcasts from both the Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl here, here or here -- or wherever you get your podcasts.) There are still just two quarterbacks going in Round 1, but the all-star game circuit confirmed what my eyes saw in the fall: This class is deep along the defensive line, both on the... And while the offensive line looked thin(nish) at times, there are some dudes, especially on the inside. Put another way: Don't be distracted by the "This is a weak class" talk in the coming weeks. It's not "six QBs in the top 12" deep, but there are are some special talents who will hear their names called early, and the depth at certain positions will run well into Day...

That, in some ways, makes it more exciting as we work our way up to the actual draft on April 24. The 2025 NFL Draft is to take place from April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. More draft coverage can be found at CBSSports.com, including the weekly mock drafts and a regularly available look at the eligible prospects. The NFL season is in the books, with the Philadelphia Eagles dominating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. And while we have to wait several months for meaningful football, we still have the 2025 NFL Draft approaching. While this year's class doesn't have big playmakers at the receiver spot like last year's did, it's full of lineman on both sides of the ball who can be franchise game-changers — just like...

While free agency will surely shake things up, along with trades that will almost surely change the draft order — this is FOX Sports Research's current projection of how things will unfold April 24-26... 1. Tennessee Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami There wasn't a school passing record that Ward didn't break in his lone season at Miami, leading all of FBS with 39 pass touchdowns and finishing second in pass yards with 4,134 yards. Will Levis has not looked like a suitable long-term plan at the position and Ward provides deep-play ability that Tennessee lacked all season. His 74 completions of 20-pus yards were tied for the most in FBS, and it's also worth nothing that he has a plethora of experience — having played five seasons in college before finishing...

And don't forget, he doesn't turn 23 until May. 2. Cleveland Browns: Abdul Carter, Edge, Penn State With the masses about to descend on Indianapolis for the annual NFL Combine, opinions about the 2025 NFL Draft are about to shift dramatically. Bucky Brooks breaks down the first round of the draft prior to the madness starting for NFL.com. Brooks posted a complete mock draft, his second attempt of the season, on NFL.com.

It includes several noteworthy selections. On3 has compiled the list from Bucky Brooks and added some commentary below. There’s not necessarily quite as clear a consensus for the No. 1 overall pick as there is in some other years, but Carter has quickly moved to the forefront of the 2025 NFL Draft. Even given an injury that will keep him from working out at the NFL Combine, there’s enough on tape for teams to love. Carter finished his 2024 season with 68 total tackles, 23.5 tackles for a loss, 12.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, four pass breakups and four passes defended.

If that isn’t No. 1 overall production we don’t know what is. The 2025 NFL Draft seems to revolve around the suspense of who will select a quarterback near the top and what will happen if Myles Garrett gets traded. Predicting the domino effect after that is more complicated, but there are certainly scenarios where each team can fill their needs regardless. Here is one mock draft scenario, including a Garrett trade, an early run on offensive linemen and a few trades for playmakers in between. After finishing dead last in PFF passing grade in 2024, the Titans elect to take Ward as their franchise quarterback.

Ward finished his lone season at Miami with the nation’s highest PFF overall grade and an outstanding 6.3% big-time throw rate. The Browns select their Myles Garrett replacement (more on that below) in Carter, who was the Power Four’s highest-graded pass-rusher last season. Assuming they secure a nice haul for Garrett, the Browns can begin to reset their roster with an elite pass-rusher before drafting a franchise quarterback in the future. The Giants are desperate for a quarterback, and Sanders is the best one on the board. He is college football’s all-time completion percentage leader, boosting a Giants team that placed 29th in that category last season. His ability to accurately throw the ball to Malik Nabers becomes the foundation of New York’s offense.

Colorado Swiss army knife Travis Hunter is one of the most unique NFL Draft prospects in years. The Heisman contender is considered one of the best prospects at both wide receiver and cornerback, raising legitimate questions about his highest-ceiling position in the league. Below we take a look at Hunter’s 2024 season, his projected landing spot in our latest mock draft, player comparisons, and more. In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings, Hunter was selected No. 3 overall by the Tennessee Titans. Here’s what Cummings had to say on Hunter’s potential fit in Nashville, Tenn.:

“The Titans didn’t have a chance to pick one of the two top quarterbacks in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, but they still came away with a blue-chip talent in Travis Hunter. And with Hunter, they can toy with the idea of adding an evolutionary playmaker at WR or CB.
