The Main Library comprises an all-rounded collection of materials in the arts, humanities, architecture, social sciences, and science and technology, giving vital support to teaching and research in the University. The Main Library occupies the Library Building which is composed of the Old and New Wings. The Old Wing was opened in 1961 and renovated in 1992/93. The New Wing was opened in 1991. The Enquiries Counter is located on the 2/F of the Main Library, which provides services related to registration for various library memberships, reader's cards that allows entry to other non-UGC libraries, etc. Please refer to its service hours here. Located on the 2/F of the Main Library, the Self-Service Collection houses course reserve materials and HKU requested books. You can simply tap your staff/student/facilities access card to access course reserve materials or pick up the requested books. Located on the 2/F New Wing of the Main Library (next to the Atrium), the battery charging stations includes Type-C, lightning, and Micro-B cables and can charge up to 7 devices.
