He was taken into custody Thursday night, roughly 33 hours after the shooting at Utah Valley University (UVU). Investigators said his family and a friend assisted in delivering him to law enforcement. Robinson is now booked into the Utah County Jail. The rifle was fitted with a scope.
Alongside it, they discovered bullet casings engraved with taunts and phrases, including “Hey Fascist! Catch!”, lyrics from Bella Ciao, and a crude message. One casing carried a string of arrows and symbols. Authorities also said a roommate showed them Discord messages attributed to Robinson. The chats referenced retrieving a rifle from a drop point, leaving it wrapped in a towel, engraving bullets, changing outfits, and the weapon being “unique.” Investigators photographed the messages directly from the roommate’s device. Officials are scheduled to provide an update in the investigation of the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk, a close political ally of President Donald Trump, was shot and killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.
As of early Sept. 11, authorities were still searching for the suspected shooter. Two people had been detained in the hours after the shooting, including one who was interrogated by law enforcement, but both were subsequently released.
