Of scholarly interest is Special Collections which houses a unique collection of Hong Kong materials, rare books, pamphlets, and microforms. AccessYour Student Registration Card (SRC) grants you access to the Libraries during the opening hours. The Main Library's Overnight Open Area (Library Corner), the Yu Chun Keung Medical Library's 24-hour Study Room and the Library 24 provide study spaces to students beyond regular opening hours. Please consult the webpage for the opening hours of these facilities. Special Collections will be partially closed for renovations until the end of December. Access to library resources or services, such as renewal or requests, require authentication. Find out more about the HKUL login and PIN for your patron type below. HKU Portal UID and PIN are distributed upon admission registration. The Portal account provides single sign-on to University services and facilities, including the Libraries. Find out more about HKU Portal UID and PIN. Your library account will be ready in 1-2 days after the Registry issues you the student/ staff card.
Please seek assistance from the Enquiries Counter of the Main Library if you fail to login several days after card issuance. If you have your card replaced and yet fail to login to the library, please bring your new student/ staff card to the Enquiries Counter of the Main Library for an account update. The Library provides photocopying and printing facilities operate on a quota-based system (uPrint) in all floors, and scanning facilities without charges. The Enquiries Counter is located on the 2/F of the Main Library, which provides services related to registration for various library memberships, reader's cards that allows entry to other non-UGC libraries, etc. Please refer to its service hours here. Located on the 2/F of the Main Library, the Self-Service Collection houses course reserve materials and HKU requested books. You can simply tap your staff/student/facilities access card to access course reserve materials or pick up the requested books. Located on the 2/F New Wing of the Main Library (next to the Atrium), the battery charging stations includes Type-C, lightning, and Micro-B cables and can charge up to 7 devices.
The Enquiries Counter is located on the 2/F of the Main Library New Wing. The Enquiries Counter handles the following library card applications (except HKU staff and student cards issued by the Registry): Please contact Lending Services and Learning Environments at 3917-5945 or Email-A-Librarian (To: Library membership) for more information. The JULAC card allows access to all UGC-funded libraries' resources and borrowing privileges for HKU Teaching, Research staff (including Research Assistants and Demonstrators), Professional & Senior Administrative staff, and HKU postgraduate students. HKU undergraduate students are eligible to apply for reader's access. UGC-funded libraries may implement blackout periods for all JULAC Library Cardholders according to the needs of their own users.

HKU Part-time / Visiting / Honorary Staff who receive an employee ID (known as staff number) can have access to e-resources. After the HKU Staff Portal is synchronized to the library systems in 2 working days, you will be able to login.
