OREM, Utah (AP) — The FBI released video showing the shooter who assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk as he jumped off a building and ran away from the campus. They appealed Thursday for the public’s help by releasing additional photos of the person they believe is responsible. Investigators said they gathered evidence, including a palm print, a shoe impression and a high-powered hunting rifle they believe the shooter used in a wooded area along the path the shooter fled.

The rifle was a Mauser .30-caliber, bolt-action rifle found in a towel in the woods, according to investigators. A spent cartridge was recovered from the chamber, and three other rounds were loaded in the magazine, according to information circulated among law enforcement and described to The Associated Press. The weapon and ammunition were being analyzed by law enforcement at a federal lab. Investigators have yet to name a suspect in the killing. DPS Commissioner Beau Mason narrated the newly released video, offering a detailed breakdown of the suspect’s movements. “If you look to the top left, you’ll see the building where the shooter was last seen,” Mason said. “The suspect ran behind the upper building, emerged on the right side and moved to the far right corner,” Mason said during a press conference. “He then climbed off the edge and dropped to the ground.” Investigators said the suspect left behind palm impressions, smudges and a shoe imprint believed to be from Converse tennis shoes. The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and shoes with white soles.

Still images from the video show a distinctive t-shirt featuring an American flag and eagle, a baseball cap with a triangle logo, sunglasses and a backpack. Update Sept. 12: A suspect is in custody. Gov. Spencer Cox announced his arrest on Friday morning. Our original story continues below.—

The manhunt is still ongoing for the person who assassinated Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. During an update by law enforcement Thursday night, the FBI and Utah Department of Public Safety shared a new video and asked the public for its help. “We've been working with our attorneys getting everything that we need, affidavits ready, so that we can pursue the death penalty in this case,” Cox said. “That will happen here in the state of Utah.” The video shows a person, whom the police are calling a man, jumping off the roof of the Losse Center into a grassy area. The individual then proceeds around the parking lot and crosses the street.

After that, police say that’s when the suspect went into a wooded area and left the weapon, a high-powered, bolt-action rifle. The pictures and video show an individual wearing a black t-shirt with an American flag and eagle on it, and denim jeans. The individual is also wearing Converse shoes, which law enforcement said they have a footprint of. The suspect also wore a baseball cap with a triangle on it, sunglasses and a backpack. Police say the individual had originally climbed onto the roof around noon local time. The FBI has released new footage of the suspect fleeing the scene after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at a Utah university on Wednesday.

In the video, a person can be seen running across the roof of a building before jumping to the ground and escaping on foot. Kirk, 31, was the founder of the right-leaning youth organization Turning Point USA and a longtime ally of President Donald Trump. The commentator's shock killing has rocked the nation, sparking both widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum, and also partisan tensions. In a press conference on Thursday evening, the FBI shared the surveillance footage of the suspect fleeing the scene and moving into a wooded area.
