commanders vs seahawks turned into a disaster game

The Washington Commanders never had a chance. The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Commanders 38-14 on Sunday Night Football to improve to 6-2 on the season, dropping Washington to 3-6. It was the Commanders' fourth straight loss, but what happened in the fourth quarter will overshadow the result of Sunday's game. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, attempting to finish a drive down 38-7, rolls to his right and his thrown down by a Seattle defender. Trying to break his fall, Daniels puts his left hand on the ground, suffering a gruesome injury. Teammates surrounded Daniels as he was attended to by doctors, who placed a cast on his left arm and left the field under his own power.

It was a brutal night for Washington, which suffered its third straight loss by 21 points or more. Down 14-0, rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane fumbles the kickoff in Washington territory. Seattle literally scored on the next play, and it was 21-0. The 14-0 deficit felt too large, but once Lane fumbled, the game was officially over — in the second quarter. The Commanders are back at home next week against another NFC heavyweight: the Detroit Lions. Detroit is coming off a loss, so the Lions will look to punish the wounded Commanders — the team that knocked them out of the playoffs — next week at Northwest Stadium.

The Washington Commanders suffered their fourth consecutive loss on Sunday night at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, but the biggest loss of the night came near the end of the fourth quarter. Jayden Daniels, who had just returned from a hamstring injury sustained two weeks ago, was escorted off the field after suffering an injury to his left arm with less than eight minutes left in... The injury occurred as Daniels went down on a two-yard sack. Head coach Dan Quinn said after the game that Daniels suffered a left elbow injury and would have more updates later in the week. The game itself was a mixture of a standout performance from the Seahawks on both sides of the field and the Commanders' self-inflicted errors. While the offense backed itself up with personal foul penalties, the defense struggled to contain Sam Darnold, who completed his first 16 passes and tossed four touchdown passes -- a career-high for the veteran.

It was 28-0 before the Commanders mustered a response, and the night ended with the Commanders still looking for answers. Last season the Minnesota Vikings lost three games in the regular season. They changed quarterbacks, moving on from free agent Sam Darnold, and have lost four games already this season. The Seattle Seahawks thought enough of Darnold to make their own change. The Seahawks weren’t bad with Geno Smith last season but they missed the playoffs. They traded Smith and signed Darnold.

It doesn’t look like the Seahawks are missing the playoffs this season. At some point Darnold will get the credit he deserves. Maybe it will come after Sunday night, when Darnold threw four first-half touchdowns and the Seahawks crushed the Washington Commanders 38-14. It was a miserable night for the Commanders, and then it got worse as quarterback Jayden Daniels was tackled late in the game and awkwardly landed on his left arm, dislocating his elbow. The Seahawks are 6-2 after one of the more impressive team performances of the entire season. They play in a very tough NFC West, and are showing they are capable of winning it.

The defense is excellent and Darnold is leading an explosive, balanced offense. Darnold isn’t just along for the ride either; he looks even better than last season, when he finished 10th in NFL MVP voting. Since the start of last season, Darnold’s teams are 20-5. He’ll eventually get proper acknowledgement for that. And after Sunday night, Seattle should be on everyone’s radar. This game was already in the books before Chris Rodriguez Jr.

carried it up the gut for a score, but not even a crazy comeback would revive this crowd, with Jayden Daniels now in the locker room with a seemingly serious arm injury. The Commanders quarterback, who'd just returned from a hamstring issue, required a large arm brace before exiting. Oh man: Washington's star signal-caller was driving the Commanders into the red zone (albeit down 31 points with fewer than eight minutes to play) and had his left arm trapped as he went to... Replay wasn't pretty. Medical trainers escorted Daniels off the field with his elbow immobilized. The Seahawks used their 6-foot-6 tight end to take the direct snap under center and plow in for six:

Who says the Seahawks' quarterback can't make acrobatic plays, too? Daniels escaped a slew of Seahawks defenders on his way to an improbable would-be first-down scramble, but then Williams' last-second dive tripped up the Commanders' slippery quarterback, preventing Washington from adding points after Sam... Despite their impressive start, the Seattle Seahawks have spent the first two months of the season flying under the national radar. That probably won’t be the case any longer. The Seahawks delivered an emphatic statement in front of a national primetime audience Sunday night, racing to a 28-0 first-half lead on their way to a 38-14 road thrashing of the Washington Commanders. Seattle Seahawks win: Instant reaction | Stacy Rost | Recap | Box score

With the victory, the Seahawks improved to 6-2 and kept pace with the Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West. Seattle is now tied with the Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the best record in the NFC. Commanders fans were seething from the opening kickoff. The Seattle Seahawks’ lone appearance (barring any flexing for the rest of the season) on Sunday Night Football was loud and eye-opening for much of America. If most of the country was asleep for the Monday night win over the Houston Texans, millions were wide awake to see Seattle destroy the Washington Commanders in their own building. A night meant to honor the 1980s Super Bowl teams and retire the great Art Monk’s jersey number turned into disaster literally from the opening kickoff, and the Seahawks never looked back on their...

It’s Enemy Reaction time, which means it’s time to visit Hogs Haven and see how Commanders fans are feeling after a brutal loss. The Commanders are a Seahawks-heavy organization from the roster through the coaching staff and front office, so they’re like Seattle East in a way. Their As an aside, I opted not to include any game thread reactions from the Jayden Daniels left arm injury. All I’ll say is that our game thread was extremely respectful and sad for Daniels while wishing him the best. It was a pointless exercise.

Placing the franchise player under fire when the blowout was confirmed was malpractice. Quinn and his staff will rightfully receive criticism, and this poor lack of judgment could have a far greater ripple effect when it’s all said and done.
