But here’s the thing. Maye is making absurd things commonplace with the Patriots again. In a stretch of incredible games, his latest performance might’ve been the best yet. That’s because Sunday was when Maye’s hot start was supposed to cool off a bit. The Cleveland Browns had the best defense in the league. Their defensive line is absurd.

Some regression would have been natural. Instead, Maye shook off a slow start to put together another MVP-caliber performance in a 32-13 rout of the Browns, completing 18 of 24 passes for 282 yards (while adding another 50 on the... His play is the biggest reason the Patriots are 6-2, have won five straight (the longest active winning streak in the NFL) and sit atop the AFC East. The Patriots are 9-2, holding the best record in the NFL after Thursday night's 27-14 victory over the AFC East division rival Jets. The developmental leap of second-year quarterback Drake Maye bears much of the credit for New England's success this season. He was phenomenal again on Thursday, completing 25 of his 34 passing attempts for 281 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Much like he last Sunday in Tampa from a Patriots-heavy road crowd, Maye received "MVP" chants as he exited his home field in Foxborough on Thursday night. On Sunday, Maye deflected, saying the MVP chants may have been for Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield. Thursday night, Maye deflected his success again and complimented rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson in the process. "Those may have been for TreVeyon tonight. I mean, he scored three touchdowns. Our fans have been great with me since I got here...just appreciate them for embracing me.

And with that, the Patriots hold the best record in the NFL, sitting at 9-2. But, no matter how loud the chants are, Maye has continued to stay humble and never shows any signs that they are getting to him. After each and every game, he is critical of things he can do better while hyping up his teammates for their efforts. And that's exactly what he did after the Week 11 primetime win when asked how it feels to get those "MVP" chants. "Yeah, may have been for TreVeyon (Henderson) tonight," Maye said with a smile. "He scored three touchdowns."

But then, he also took a moment to give love to the fans. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (+300), Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (+500) and Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (+650) are the three closest players behind — though we aren’t far away... Drake Maye has been cooking in his second NFL season as his stellar play is a big reason why the Patriots are 6-2 on the season after beating the Browns on Sunday. The 23-year-old QB threw three more touchdown passes in the 32-13 win at home and he also rushed for 50 yards. The former UNC star, who the Patriots selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, now has 15 touchdown passes through eight games and, more importantly, has thrown only three interceptions.

Maye has thrown for 2,026 yards, completed 75.2 percent of his passes and has a QB rating of 118.7. Maye was asked after the game what he thought of those chants but said he didn't hear them because he was too busy getting roasted by his teammates for how he ended his long...
