The Major League Baseball (MLB) 2025 season awards were announced this week as baseball celebrated the best of the best. Awards announced this week included Most Valuable Player (MVP), Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, and Cy Young Award (best pitcher) for each league. The Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) is responsible for voting for these significant awards The BBWAA selects 30 members to vote on each of the four awards. In addition to these awards, several other honors were also announced this week. They included the Gold Glove Awards, Silver Slugger Awards, Executive of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year.

Let’s recap the winners of the four major categories for the 2025 MLB season. In Part 1, we’ll cover the winners of the Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year awards. National League- Drake Baldwin, C, Atlanta Braves Earlier this week, Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin was announced as the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year. In doing so, he became the 10th Brave to win the award and only the third catcher in the last three decades to win it in either league. Baldwin received 21 of the 30 first-place votes and 183 points in all balloting.

Behind him, Cade Horton, starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, had nine first-place votes and 139 total points. Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Caleb Durbin finished behind them with 139 points. Baldwin had a phenomenal season, hitting 19 home runs, driving in 80 runs, with a slash line of .274/.341/.469. Not too bad for a player who was expected to start the season at Triple-A. He was also highly regarded for his communication, game-calling, and defensive skills. Left-hander Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers won the American League Cy Young award for the second straight season.

Skubal becomes the 23rd pitcher to win multiple Cy Young Awards. BBWAA winners will be announced over four days next week, beginning with the Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Awards on Monday, Nov. 10. Manager of the Year follows on Nov.

11, Cy Young winners are announced on Nov. 12, and it concludes on Thursday, Nov. 13, with the MVP Awards. All BBWAA Award winners will be announced live on MLB Network with special shows starting at 4 p.m. PT for each designated day. The voting process to determine the winners and finalists for each category is run by the BBWAA.

Two writers from each MLB city are recommended by the local chapter chairman and approved by the national secretary-treasurer to vote for each award.
