In the National League, Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter and starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani unanimously won his fourth MVP award. Updated on: November 14, 2025 / 12:19 AM EST / CBS/AP In the American League, Aaron Judge became the New York Yankees' fourth three-time Most Valuable Player winner, edging Seattle's Cal Raleigh with 17 first-place votes to 13 for the switch-hitting catcher. The vote was the closest for an MVP since the Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout topped Houston's Alex Bregman by 17-13 in 2019. Judge, who won the AL award in 2022 and 2024, joined Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle as three-time MVPs with the Yankees. The 33-year-old outfielder led the majors with a .331 batting average and 1.144 OPS while hitting 53 homers.
When asked about his place in MLB and Yankees lore, Judge acknowledged he's in rare company. By Anthony Franco | November 13, 2025 at 6:55pm CDT Aaron Judge has repeated as the American League MVP. The Yankees star edged out Cal Raleigh and easily cleared third-place finisher José Ramírez to claim his third MVP in four seasons. He’s the thirteenth player in league history to win the award on three occasions. It was about as tightly contested a race as possible.
Judge and Raleigh were 1-2 in some order on all 30 ballots. Judge received 17 first-place votes against Raleigh’s 13. Had two of the Judge voters gone the other way, there would have been co-MVP winners for the first time since Keith Hernandez and Willie Stargell split the NL award in 1979. <img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-874328" src="https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="185" height="278" srcset="https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-200x300.jpg 200w, https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-900x1350.jpg 900w, https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2025/11/USATSI_27270567-scaled.jpg 1706w" sizes="(max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px" /> That’s a testament to the remarkable seasons turned in by both players. Judge was yet again the best offensive player in baseball.
He hit .331/.457/.688 to lead the majors in all three slash stats. Judge paced the AL with 124 walks and 137 runs scored. He finished second behind Raleigh with 53 homers and 114 runs batted in. While Raleigh had the edge in the power counting statistics, Judge’s offensive rate metrics were far better. He walked more, struck out less, and had much better results on balls in play that didn’t clear the fences. Judge had a near .100 point advantage over Raleigh in OBP and more than .080 points above him in average.
He won the AL batting title by .020 points over Bo Bichette and Jacob Wilson. Aaron Judge continues to cement his case for the Hall of Fame, winning his third American League MVP Award on Thursday night. However, Judge was already well on his way to Cooperstown, even if Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh took home the hardware instead. Judge became the 13th player to win the MVP three times, joining former Yankee greats Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, and Mickey Mantle. He received 17 of 30 first-place votes from members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. “It’s tough for me to wrap my head around it,” Judge said after winning the MVP live on MLB Network.
“It’s really kind of mind-blowing. I just play this game to win. I play this game for my teammates, my family, all the fans in New York. I just want to go out there and give them my best every single day.” The Yankees’ captain put together another spectacular season in his age-33 season. The 53 home runs Judge hit were the fourth time in his career that he hit 50 or more dingers in a season.
He led MLB with a .331 batting average, .457 on-base percentage, .688 slugging percentage, 1.144 OPS, and a 215 OPS+. Judge’s 36 intentional walks were more than 29 of the other clubs, and it’s the 13th most intentional free passes in a single season in MLB history. Aaron Judge added another chapter to his Yankees legacy Thursday, becoming the fourth player in franchise history to win a third American League MVP with the franchise. And unlike the previous two times Judge won the award — in 2022 and last season — there was more drama involved this time around, as Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh was a legitimate contender...
Judge still came out on top in the BBWAA voting with 17 first-place votes compared to Raleigh’s 13.
