Also awesome on the desktop.I spent over 30 years of my career using met data and weather models on a daily basis. You can imagine how primitive and time consuming it was in the 90’s. From plugging inputs into command line programs on a server through to modern graphic tools, I’ve seen a lot. The newer tools became part of my daily personal weather tracking, but even those required a lot of computing power. I found Windy early in its development and have not looked back. For activity planning, drone flying, hiking, and just every day weather forecasting it is superb.

It lacks an amazing amount of features into an iOS app with a great UI.One thing to be aware of is the granularity of these models, not just in Windy but the models in... The way the data is displayed could lead a user to think they are getting exact conditions or forecasts for their exact location. In reality there is a learning curve. I live near the ocean and I know the real temperature and wind will have large local impacts. But the big picture of temp trends, pressure, wind direction and system structure are highly accurate. The models show not only the current and forecasted conditions, but let you dive deep into “why”.

We just want the best weather info available, both forecasted and observed.I've got every remotely serious weather app in the app store and subscribe to the premium services of a couple dozen of them. There's only one thing (in my opinion) that this app does that other available apps don't do better (and it's the only one that has this feature at all): it allows you to stack... I've created a custom profile that lets me see the model parameters I'm interested in grouped together for easy comparison: temperature, precip, wind, etc. The other Windy app's maps are far better, LuckGrib is far better at displaying the models and ALL the parameters, etc. I could go on with this sort of comparison for pages, but this app is the only that has the killer feature of letting me position the data in a chart in the order... Their support is also first class and they listen to requests from their users.

But the custom profile comparison capability is the reason this app has a place on my home screen, and the reason I think it deserves 5 stars in a very crowded category. My name is Bill Maxwell I am the owner and operator of the sport fishing boat TunaFever. From April through November my 57 foot sport fish weather permitting seven days a week between 45 and 55 miles offshore. We operate out of the Oregon in Inlet fishing center located in Nagshead North Carolina on the outer banks. Most of our fishing is done on the western wall of the golf stream where it crosses the hundred fathom them curve. This app Windy is by far the most reliable source of information that I can use to determine whether I’m gonna have a safe day a beautiful day or whether I should go at...

Very accurate and easy to learn. Take some time to learn how to use it and you will not use another app. App developer support is amazing in the event that you had questions.I have tried several weather apps, and there is not one that compares based on the amount of features. This one contains. Track snow reports, mountain weather, and freezing level to maximize your Christmas skiing and snowboarding trips I really like this app, it seems to be aimed at kite surfers but looks like it’ll be perfect for planning canoe and dinghy sailing trips, too.
