Technically, rookie Tyler Shough is the Saints' starter for the rest of the season. When New Orleans goes on the clock in the 2026 NFL Draft, Shough will almost certainly become the latest high-round pick whose team uses an even higher-round pick 12 months later in the hopes... The Panthers did it in 2011 when they took Cam Newton No. 1 overall, and the Cardinals did it eight years later when they selected Kyler Murray with the top pick. And as we sit here, nine weeks into the 2026 season, the Saints are staring that first-overall selection in the face. There will no doubt be discussions in the building about trading down and what such a draft haul might do to reset this roster, but if the organization feels that Fernando Mendoza or Ty...

Former Titans GM Ran Carthon and I talked about this last week on "With the First Pick," our NFL Draft podcast: In my Mock Draft 2.0, I have just three QBs going in the first round -- and one via trade; after trading down from No. 2 to No. 5 last April, the Browns move up from No. 6 to No. 2 in this excerise for a quarterback.

And much like the conversation surrounding Shough, it's fair to assume that neither Dylan Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders (or any other QB currently on Cleveland's roster) will be penciled in as the 2026 starter... The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. The rising importance of the 2026 NFL Draft for several teams came into focus after last week's trade deadline. With the New York Jets having dealt cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts, there are now four NFL teams that have multiple first-round picks in April. And with the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants having already fired their head coaches, several fan bases are probably ready to close the book on this season and enter offseason mode. But with the first-round order still shifting significantly week to week, there's still ample time for team's draft fortunes to rise or fall. With that said, here's USA TODAY Sports' latest first-round projection and 2026 NFL mock draft:

There's a strong possibility for Tennessee to possess the No. 1 pick in consecutive years after the Saints' and Browns' victories left the Titans as the only one-win team remaining. And that creates a bit of a mystery atop the order. An organization that's yet again rebooting would clearly stand to benefit from trading back and stockpiling more early selections to support Cam Ward. Yet this quarterback class doesn't seem particularly conducive to drumming up a bidding war for this choice. If Tennessee does end up in the slot and stands pat, it could supercharge its defense with Reese.

Though he operates as a linebacker for the Buckeyes, the 6-foot-4, 243-pounder has Micah Parsons-like movement abilities that could be best put to use in a full-time edge rushing role. The Titans could pair him with Jeffery Simmons to create one of the league's most formidable inside-outside tandems and then use the rest of the draft – and free agency – to focus on... A franchise with a decades-long habit of being trigger-shy when it comes to selecting quarterbacks might be hard-pressed to go this route, especially if Tyler Shough continues to exhibit the promise he displayed in... But unless the second-round rookie firmly establishes himself as New Orleans' answer at the position in the back half of the season, Mendoza might be massively alluring. The Heisman Trophy front-runner now also figures to be the favorite to be the first quarterback taken, with his game-winning drive against Penn State highlighting resiliency and a knack for operating out of structure... The 6-5, 225-pounder is the kind of precise thrower who could allow Kellen Moore to launch a new era for the organization in earnest.

October 22, 2025, 1:46pm EST 1K+ • By Alex Hoegler Much has changed around the NCAA and the NFL since our last mock draft. The standings look a lot different compared to a month ago, and a handful of top 2026 draft prospects have either enhanced or decreased their stock. So, how would the first round play out if the draft were held today? Let’s dive into our latest 2026 NFL first-round mock draft. The race for the top quarterback selected is as wide open as we’ve ever seen it.

Mendoza has a slight edge over the others RIGHT NOW, but LaNorris Sellers, Dante Moore, Carson Beck, and Garrett Nussmeier have something to say as well. The one virtual certainty is that the Jets will select a quarterback with their first-round pick. He’d have a couple of nice building blocks here with Garrett Wilson and Armand Membou, with plenty more room to add. The Titans currently own the No. 1 overall pick, but because they selected Cam Ward last year, they will look to trade down. The Jets have so many resources to pull the trigger to move up for the top choice.

The Jets obviously need a quarterback. Justin Fields had a great Week 1, but completed only three passes against the Bills. Fields has gotten worse ever since, save for the Cincinnati win. The Jets need to start over, and they can do that with this prospect. Ty Simpson has won some big games and has thrived with his superb ball placement. He’s an intelligent quarterback who throws with great timing and anticipation.

Now it is time to pick up the pieces and move forward.

The New York Jets traded two of their defensive stars, waiving the white flag on the 2025 season and turning their attention to the future. How might that impact what we see next spring in the 2026 NFL Draft? Let’s answer that question and more with a mock draft. Regarding the draft order, this mock draft uses the current draft order based on NFL standings as outlined by Tankathon. The eventual draft order next spring may look a lot different. Here are the picks, followed with some big-picture thoughts as well as a few quick takeaways on some favorite pairings and players:

It's never fun to look ahead toward the NFL Draft in November, but the fan bases of a select group of bottom feeders have no other choice. Take the Cleveland Browns, for example. If you wanted a sense of how badly things are going for them right now, they just lost a game to a 1-8 New York Jets team that just traded both Sauce Gardner and... Justin Fields had just 54 passing yards, yet the Jets still found a way to beat this Browns team. Wouldn't you rather look towards the draft in this instance, especially when considering the other results? This loss was obviously inexcusable for Cleveland, but honestly, it helped the Browns quite a bit with the 2026 NFL Draft in mind.

Now, both the Jets and Browns sit at 2-7 with New York holding the tiebreaker, meaning Cleveland would pick ahead of them in the NFL Draft. This could allow Cleveland to change the course of their franchise. Additionally, other bottom feeders like the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints somehow found ways to beat teams that began Sunday's action above .500, meaning Cleveland's odds of getting the No. 1 pick just skyrocketed. With the results of Week 10's early slate in mind, here's a look at how the beginning of the 2026 NFL Draft is projected to shake out. 1.

Tennessee Titans (1-8)2. New Orleans Saints (2-8)3. New York Giants (2-8)4. Cleveland Browns (2-7)5. New York Jets (2-7)6. Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)7.

Miami Dolphins (3-7)8. Washington Commanders (3-7)9. Cincinnati Bengals (3-6)10. Los Angeles Rams (via ATL (3-6))11. Arizona Cardinals (3-6)12. Dallas Cowboys (3-5-1)13.

Baltimore Ravens (4-5)14. Minnesota Vikings (4-5)15. Houston Texans (4-5)16. Carolina Panthers (5-5)17. Kansas City Chiefs (5-4)18. San Francisco 49ers (6-4)19.
