The lull in the weather continues for the final days of the year: freezing areas of morning fog followed by daytime sunshine. The pattern starts to break down on New Year's Day, with the wettest weather arriving Friday and Saturday with our next system. Freezing morning fog just continued to build this morning: South Sound, Chehalis Valley, Mason County - even Snohomish and Skagit Counties. Be ready in case you drive into stretches of reduced visibility through late morning, as it may take a while for the foggy sections to clear.

Also, drive carefully as black ice may be present. Afternoon sunshine will be plentiful today...not much wind either. So it'll feel warm through your car windows as you're driving. It's just that the air will stay cold all day until we repeat the pattern tomorrow for New Year's Eve.
