In one of the most aggressive offseason stretches in franchise history, the Commanders have pulled off two blockbuster trades and added key veterans to strengthen their roster ahead of the 2025 season. Washington's biggest splash came in acquiring All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers. Known for his versatility as a receiver and rusher, Samuel will serve as a dynamic No. 2 option alongside Terry McLaurin, giving the Commanders a lethal one-two punch on offense. But that wasn’t the only game-changing move. Washington also secured elite left tackle Laremy Tunsil in a trade with the Houston Texans.

While Tunsil led the league with 19 penalties last season, his pass-blocking remains among the best in the NFL — ranking fourth overall among 141 tackles in 2024. He’ll provide a major upgrade over Brandon Coleman, who finished 72nd in the same category. The preseason is over. Next up on the NFL calendar is cutdown day. For the Washington Commanders and the 31 other NFL teams, that means they must trim their rosters from 90 to 53 players. The Commanders enter the 2025 season with high expectations.

Not even a winless preseason that saw the Commanders get outscored by a total of 71 points has fans concerned. But before the season begins in less than two weeks, general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn must make some difficult roster decisions. Which players helped themselves the most in the preseason? How many undrafted free agents will make Washington's 53-man roster? Will the Commanders carry three quarterbacks? These are all questions facing the Commanders ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

We’re tracking the Commanders’ roster cuts as they happen before Tuesday’s deadline. Stay tuned to this page for updates. The UDFA turned heads in training camp, but appears headed to the practice squad unless someone claims him. LB Ale Kaho fought his way onto the roster. Things have unraveled quickly for the Washington Commanders this season. They were beaten in overtime by the Miami Dolphins, their sixth straight loss.

The Washington Commanders just lost their sixth straight game after a disappointing loss to the Miami Dolphins in Madrid, Spain, and now they head to a needed bye week. The Washington Commanders shot themselves in the foot with an overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins. Their international game was largely underwhelming, but a crucial interception by quarterback Marcus Mariota eventually proved the team's undoing. The Washington Commanders are leaving Madrid in the loss column once again after falling to the Miami Dolphins 16-13 in Week 11 at Bernabeu Stadium. The Commanders and Dolphins kept things close throughout the game with a pair of field goals for each team in the first half. How many of the players to lead the NFL in tackles-for-loss each season since 2000-01 can you name in five minutes?
