Over half of Washington State residents live in a child care desert. It exceeds the average cost of in-state college tuition in more than half of states in the U.S.

The Imagine Institute helped open 857 child care businesses throughout Washington State. We provided high quality instruction to 3,745 child care providers throughout Washington State. Imagine has provided training to 2,298 licensed family child care providers. Notice: Online registration system is currently down. All classes are live and instructor-led virtual trainings (not pre-recorded). Participants eligible for cash bonuses and STARS hours must attend and complete the entire session(s) in order to receive them. All our training is developed, reviewed and/or approved by child care providers on the Imagine Institute Curriculum Committee to make sure it supports our mission to be relevant, respectful, and responsive. Fellow providers teach most trainings, allowing them to uniquely relate to the material and participants. We offer a range of courses tailored to family child care providers. Our curriculum and incentives are reviewed by a team of experienced family child care and center workers to make sure they are relevant and meaningful to our colleagues.

The information in the training materials below applies to all workplaces. However, employers are also required to include information about specific conditions that exist at their workplace (i.e. providing first aid treatment to a child, picking up discarded syringes in public places before children can safely play outdoors, or cleaning surfaces contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials [OPIM]). Only using the training module without the workplace-specific information will not satisfy all training requirements. Several slides indicate where workplace-specific information should be included. Tailor these trainings to help meet the L&I training requirements
