Find this story in your account’s ‘Saved for Later’ section. Remember Project 2025, the deeply unpopular far-right governing plan that Donald Trump spent the entire 2024 election pretending to know nothing about? Well, the president is bear-hugging it: On October 2, as the government shutdown entered its second day, Trump posted on Truth Social that he would be meeting with Office of Management and Budget director... I have no idea who is behind it” — even though the playbook was written by more than 140 alumni of his first administration. In any case, Trump and his allies repeatedly cast people’s concerns around the plan’s authoritarian streak as hysterical. The media and serious political operators bought into his supposed “disavowal” of the playbook, too.
That public-relations spin was clearly b.s. Many of Project 2025’s authors are now members of the current administration — including Vought, FCC chair Brendan Carr, White House border czar Tom Homan, and CIA director John Ratcliffe. And in just nine months, Trump has already accomplished 48 percent of the policies outlined in the playbook, according to an analysis by the Project 2025 Tracker. You read that right! Trump is nearly halfway through establishing the governing plan that experts warned “would destroy the 250-year-old system of checks and balances upon which U.S. democracy has relied.” To break down just how far Project 2025 has come and what people can still do to stop it, I spoke with Michael Sozan, a senior fellow at the Center for...
Here’s what they said. The 900-page behemoth, titled Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise, outlined policy proposals for major federal agencies. Its authors said Project 2025 would be a road map for the next conservative administration. But Sozan says that, in reality, “It is almost an authoritarian guidebook for a president to be able to exercise almost complete control over the government.” He adds, “It gives the president and his... As of October 9, the Trump administration has already completed 119 of Project 2025’s 318 stated objectives, according to the data analysis conducted by Cobb and the tracker’s co-creators. Cobb says that 66 of the plan’s other goals are currently in progress.
They fall into two categories: objectives where there has been some action, such as a draft proposal, that has yet to be implemented, as well as policies that have been blocked by the courts. This means that about 48 percent of Project 2025 has been completed. An online tracker that measures the extent to which Project 2025 has been implemented by the government has hit a 50 per cent milestone. According to a website created by two Reddit users, titled Project 2025 Tracker, the White House has implemented 50 per cent of the policies outlined in the conservative document. The website does not provide the methodology it uses to track Project 2025. Project 2025 is a 900-page document of policy proposals spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation think tank.
It advocates limited government, border security and tough immigration laws, among other conservative measures. Newsweek reached out to the White House and the Heritage Foundation by email to comment on this story outside of normal business hours. The extent to which Trump is influenced by Project 2025 has been a source of debate during the president's second term. The swath of executive orders and memoranda he’s implemented align with some 115 of the right-wing blueprint’s 317 goals, an online tracker finds From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it. Nearly half of the initiatives laid out in Project 2025 — which is considered by many to be a blueprint for the second Trump administration — have already been implemented by the president, a...
This time last year, Donald Trump was swearing through his teeth that he wasn’t affiliated with Project 2025. But little more than half a year into his second administration, the initiative is reportedly already 47 percent complete. The Project 2025 Tracker, which labels itself as a “comprehensive, community-driven initiative” to follow the implementation of the 900-page far-right manifesto, has counted the progression of 115 “complete” proposals out of the project’s 317... Some federal agencies—such as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and USAID—have already been entirely reworked according to Project 2025’s goals. Project 2025 had six goals for USAID. The White House, for which Project 2025 had 13 listed objectives, is currently 92 percent complete, according to the tracker.
Another 64 proposals are currently “in progress,” according to the tracker, including initiatives at the Department of Homeland Security, the Defense Department, the Energy Department, and the Department of Commerce. They include policies that would require federally funded schools to administer military entrance tests to all students, adding citizenship questions to the census, rescinding elements of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act, phasing out... Trump faced enormous blowback from conservatives last summer after he was accused of being tied in with the Heritage Foundation, the christo-nationalist group that drafted the manifesto. But he managed to change the opinion of American voters by lying repeatedly. A comprehensive, community-driven initiative to track the implementation of Project 2025's policy proposals The total number of objectives being tracked.
