The start of a new year means a new planner. And if you found yourself here, that means you're probably looking for one, too. I've bought and reviewed a lot of different planners in my day, finding some I like, but others that I love, and that have led to more organization and productivity in my life. I've also consulted my fellow planner-obsessed friends and editors about their favorites as well. That led me to narrow down a list of the best planners that are worth your money and time. This list has the best planners for every kind of person and every kind of brain, because at the end of the day, we all think a little differently.
Here's what I looked for—quality-made pieces that won't fall apart if they get thrown in a work bag, thick paper that pens and markers won't bleed through, reinforced tabs for navigation, colorful aesthetics for... And budget is always something to consider, especially coming off of the holidays. So, you'll find a couple of planners with all the bells and whistles priced between $50-$75, while others are below $25. The Laurel Denise Horizontal Weekly Planner is the best planner I've ever used. It's designed to help your thoughts and ideas stay more organized as you put them down on paper, reading and writing left to right, instead of up and down. When I first got it, the horizontal layout and large amount of space intimidated me.
But what I grew to love about this unique planner is that it allows you to see your week and monthly calendar without flipping back and forth. The monthly calendar sits on the left side, while smaller pages let you flip through your weeks that month. The right side includes more of your weekly and daily to-dos as well as plenty of space for notes which you can use for lists, meal planning, ideas, or whatever comes to mind. Some fun extras include habit trackers, front and back pockets, two rulers/place keepers, and reinforced tabs. These pages are also thick enough so my markers and pens don't bleed through. Journals and planners serve as essential tools for individuals seeking to organize their thoughts, set detailed goals, track progress, and enhance overall productivity.
These resources not only provide a structured format for daily activities but also foster mindfulness and reflection, allowing individuals to better understand their habits and aspirations. As the new year approaches, taking the time to select the right journal or planner can significantly influence one’s mindset and trajectory for 2025. The importance of journals lies primarily in their ability to facilitate personal expression and emotional processing. Writing in a journal encourages introspection and can help individuals articulate their thoughts and feelings more clearly. This practice often leads to increased self-awareness, enabling one to identify patterns in behavior and thought processes. Similarly, planners serve a distinct purpose by breaking down goals into manageable tasks and scheduling these tasks in a way that balances one’s priorities effectively.
By utilizing a planner, individuals can allocate their time more efficiently, ensuring that they remain focused on what matters most. Beginning the year with a well-structured journal or planner sets a positive tone for the months to come. It creates a sense of purpose and direction, guiding users toward their objectives. When individuals prioritize their personal development through consistent planning, they not only enhance their productivity but also cultivate a comprehensive outlook on their life goals. Thus, as you prepare to embark on 2025, consider the role that the right journaling and planning tools can play in your journey, helping you to embrace challenges, celebrate achievements, and maintain momentum throughout... Choosing the right journal or planner for enhancing productivity and organization is an important task that requires careful consideration of various factors.
The first aspect to evaluate is the layout preference. Some may find daily planners more effective, while others might prefer weekly or monthly layouts. Daily planners offer detailed scheduling, allowing users to allocate time for specific tasks throughout the day. On the other hand, weekly or monthly planners provide a broader view, making it easier to anticipate upcoming events and deadlines. Size also plays a crucial role in the selection process. A suitable journal or planner should be portable enough to fit into a bag while offering enough space for writing.
The choice between compact designs and larger formats largely depends on individual usage habits. Binding type, such as spiral, thread-bound, or hardcover, can affect durability and ease of use, so it is essential to select one that meets personal preferences. January—the month where we all collectively lie to ourselves about quitting vaping (insert any other daily vice), joining a gym, and becoming a more organised and better version of who we were last year. But this time, you mean it, right? Right? Whether you’re plotting world domination, tracking your cat’s moods, or just trying to remember what day it is—a good planner can be your trusty self-improvement sidekick.
But because no two people are the same, we’ve got planners to suit every type: the chronically overcommitted jetsetter who needs every itinerary micromanaged, the minimal mystics who believe less is more (but make... From manifestation affirmations to sticker-filled chaos, we’ve rounded up planners so good they’ll make you feel like you’ve got your life together... even if you’re still Googling “how to meal prep” for the third year in a row. So, grab a cup of coffee (or your fifth), pull out your cutest stationery, and let’s find the perfect planner to make 2025 your most organised year yet. Because, if you can’t control the chaos, you can at least colour-code it. This planner is peak elegance.

Instead of an app or gadget that claims to jump-start your productivity, consider investing in a good paper planner. There is plenty of research that shows how actually writing down your to-do list and schedule for the day — rather than typing it out on a laptop or iPhone — makes you feel... And once the calendar year is complete, a physical planner becomes an artifact — a time capsule, if you will — of its happenings. Leafing through the well-loved Hobonichi Techo planners I’ve used over the years brings me almost as much pleasure as scribbling in them did. While I’ve been devoted to Hobonichi Techo for most of my adult life, I’ve covered the Strategist’s stationery beat long enough to know that finding the right planner out of the very vast and...
