Tom Brady Gives Backhanded Compliment To Julian Edelman In Msn
Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady congratulated his former teammate, Julian Edelman, on being voted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. The three-time Super Bowl-winning wide receiver was announced as the 2025 inductee on Monday. Edelman was one of Brady's favorite targets, and the trust between the two only grew in the postseason. Only Jerry Rice and Travis Kelce have more receiving yards and receptions than Edelman in the playoffs. In the postseason, Edelman has racked up 118 receptions for 1,442 yards, while compiling 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns in his NFL career. "Congratulations Bubs," Brady posted to Edelman on Instagram
A post shared by New England Patriots (@patriots) For a decade, quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Julian Edelman formed a dangerous duo for the New England Patriots. They each had a chip on their shoulder from being underestimated, which only increased their on-field chemistry. Brady was the best player in the 2000 draft, and every team in the league passed him up round after round until the Patriots took a chance on the Michigan quarterback in the sixth... Edelman also found himself left waiting, even longer than Brady waited. The Patriots took him in the seventh round in 2009.
The two hit it off immediately, so it is no wonder that Brady got emotional when he learned that Edleman was being given a distinguished honor. Recently, Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced that Edelman was being honored with an induction into the franchise’s Hall of Fame. The news understandably made Edelman’s father, Frank Edelman, emotional, but he wasn’t the only one. Brady shared how happy he is for his former teammate on his Instagram account. Tom Brady, retired NFL quarterback, was too happy for Julian Edelman who was recently named the 37th New England Patriots Hall of Fame inductee after a fan vote. Brady posted a graphic of Edelman’s induction announcement, congratulating the now retired wide receiver.
Julian Edelman played 12 seasons with the New England Patriots after being selected by the team as the 232nd pick in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. Before the NFL, Edelman split his college football career with San Mateo and the Kent State Golden Flashes. In his time with the team, Edelman managed to win three Super Bowl rings. Brady and Edelman played together on the Patriots team for several seasons. “LEGEND. Congratulations bubs.” Tom Brady captioned his Instagram post, congratulating Julian Edelman.
Tom Brady, although now retired, is still deeply involved with the game. Brady is also a minority owner with the Las Vegas Raiders. Apart from owning a part of the team, the legendary quarterback is also a consultant for the team especially in matters of player development. Brady himself played for the New England Patriots all the way from 2000 to 2019 and then for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a couple of seasons before retiring from the game for good. In his NFL career, Brady has managed to earn seven Super Bowl rings. On Sunday, the New England Patriots will face the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the matchup won’t be the only nod to the past.
Before kickoff, the Patriots are set to take the field wearing their old red, white, and blue throwback uniforms, a look that instantly brings back memories of the franchise’s early days in the 1980s... Known for the “Pat Patriot” logo on the helmet, this design predates the switch to the now-familiar “Flying Elvis” introduced in 1993. Beyond aesthetics, the uniforms serve as a reminder of the organization’s history while adding extra excitement to a marquee AFC clash. The theme of honoring history extended well beyond the uniforms this weekend. Former wide receiver Julian Edelman, one of the Patriots’ most iconic figures, was officially inducted into the franchise’s Hall of Fame. A three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl LIII MVP, Edelman spent his entire 11-year career in New England, becoming a postseason legend for his clutch catches and relentless toughness.

Tom Brady could not help himself but give a backhanded compliment to Julian Edelman while speaking on his induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame.
Edelman spent his entire 12-year career with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls having overcome the odds as a seventh-round pick to carve out a Patriots Hall of Fame-worthy tenure. Edelman changed position from college quarterback to wide receiver, a position he had not played in college at all. He went on to become Brady's most trustworthy option, being third in touchdowns caught by the legendary quarterback behind only Rob Gronkowski and Randy Moss, two of the greatest receivers of all-time. The two were an iconic duo that was the backbone of the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl wins in 2016 and 2018.
But there once was a time when Brady yelled at a rookie Edelman for dilly-dallying as a punt returner. Now that the two work for FOX, Brady apologized to Edelman after all these years. During a pregame show earlier this year, he opened up about yelling at his teammate for the first time ever at Lincoln Field. The setting was a preseason game against the Eagles in 2009, Edelman’s rookie season. Brady said he saw his teammate returning a punt, and he kept running side to side rather than pushing upfield. This perturbed Tom.
“I said, ‘Julian, get upfield!’” Brady yelled. As a rookie, Edelman might have felt it pretty intimidating to be yelled at by the captain of the team. But funny enough, the punt return was called back due to a penalty, and they re-kicked. That time, Edelman proved Brady wrong by scoring a 70-yard TD.
