Tennessee Titans Land Reuben Bain In Pff Post Trade Deadline Mock
The NFL trade deadline has come and gone, and some of the moves that were made changed the complexion of the first round and beyond. While the Tennessee Titans mostly stood pat, they did add some players in later rounds who could pay dividends. The 1-8 Titans enter their bye week with a firm grasp on the second pick in the draft, and are currently battling the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints for draft position. And while their season has been disappointing to this point, their 2025 rookie class has been a highlight and gives fans some hope that general manager Mike Borgonzi has what it takes to rebuild... With the trade deadline in the rearview, Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus (PFF) surveyed the NFL landscape and came up with his post-deadline mock draft, and he sees the Titans tackling one of... 2.
TENNESSEE TITANS: EDGE RUEBEN BAIN JR., MIAMI (FL) Bain has cooled off a bit after a red-hot start to the season, but the 6-foot-3, 270-pound edge rusher still boasts PFF run-defense and pass-rush grades above 90.0 for the year. He’s the total package for any defensive front. For many fans, the writing is already on the wall for their teams’ seasons, and it’s time to look to the future. That means getting an early look at the 2026 NFL draft class, and PFF is here to help. Each week we’ll take an early mock-draft focus on two new teams, starting with the Tennessee Titans, whose current record would have them picking first overall.
This is not meant to be a predictive exercise — we aren’t close to knowing the actual draft order — but rather an introduction to expected team needs and potential targets. Think of it this way: this is the one series you can afford to wait on for your team, because the longer it takes for them to appear, the better they are performing on... Bain has developed into an unstoppable, do-all edge defender, carrying on the rich legacy of the institution he represents. His 93.9 overall grade ranks No. 1 among all edge players in college football and is buoyed by his pass-rush prowess. Through nine games he has amassed five sacks and 50 total pressures, and his 37.4 win rate on true pass sets ranks fifth in the country.
The Titans need more dynamic weapons on offense, and Concepcion would provide exactly that. Ranked 27th on the current PFF Big Board, he would be an ideal complement to the big-bodied Elic Ayomanor, whom Tennessee selected in the fourth round of the 2025 draft. In 2025, the Texas A&M receiver has racked up 40 receptions for 629 yards and eight scores and has forced 10 missed tackles after the catch. His quarterback has a passer rating of 122.7 when targeting him. Tennessee traded cornerback Roger McCreary to the Rams prior to last week’s trade deadline, and he represented the only Titans cornerback this year with an average coverage grade. Rivers uses his natural speed and athleticism to be a menace at the catch point, having already forced eight incompletions in addition to his interception against Illinois in Week 2.
The Tennessee Titans are entering one of the most crucial seasons in recent franchise history. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward hopes to show both the fans and the organization that he is the answer at quarterback the franchise has been searching for. From a coaching perspective, head coach Brian Callahan is looking to show that he is the right head coach to lead Tennessee into the future. And while the 2025 season has yet to begin, some have already started looking ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft next April. One of those analysts is Jacob Infante of PFSN. In a way-too-early seven-round mock draft, Infante has the Titans finishing with the No.
4 overall pick and drafting Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain. "With Cam Ward now under center, the Tennessee Titans need to take full advantage of his rookie contract window by building a strong foundation around him," Infante writes. "Enter Rueben Bain Jr., my early EDGE1 for the 2026 draft. He’s a powerhouse off the edge who combines brute strength with explosive short-area quickness and a non-stop motor." "Bain plays with outstanding pad level, offers versatility by kicking inside when needed, and consistently finds ways to disrupt plays. He’s the type of impact pass rusher who can become the cornerstone of a defense."
The Titans lack a star edge rusher, and Bain could certainly prove to be that if he were to land in Tennessee. However, if the Titans finished with a top five draft pick again, they would likely be looking for another head coach and move on from Callahan. The NFL is a league built around giving hope to the hopeless, and right now, there aren't many fan bases that feel more hopeless than the Tennessee Titans. That hope comes directly from the endless fount of optimism and opportunity that is the NFL Draft. With each loss, the Titans get closer to locking up a top spot in the 2026 NFL Draft. That is especially intriguing this year because the Titans are the only team contending for the top pick in the draft that already has a quarterback of the future.
On Sunday, the Titans moved up to No. 1 overall in the live draft order due to wins by the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. The Titans could be well-positioned to take the best available player. Alternatively, they could accept a juicy trade offer from one of the QB-needy teams picking behind them. The Jets and Cleveland Browns are two of the teams that could fall in that category, and they both have multiple first-round picks after a frantic trade deadline. While the Titans can keep that option in their back pocket, there is no guarantee they will be in a position to trade down.
There is a chance that Cam Ward goes on a hot streak and the Titans end up winning a few more games. We analyzed the most recent mock drafts from Keith Sanchez at The Draft Network, Mel Kiper at ESPN, and Nick Baumgardner at The Athletic. One thing that was consistent is that the Titans could be in the market for a premier EDGE-rushing prospect at the top of the draft. The Tennessee Titans are approaching the start of the 2025 season, but there are already people in the scouting department working on evaluating the 2026 NFL Draft class. One of the top players in the country this season is Miami pass rusher Rueben Bain Jr., who was predicted to join the Titans with the No. 4 overall pick in Sporting News contributor Anthony Licciardi's mock draft.
"Bain came into the year having to answer questions about last year's injury. He answered them against an elite Notre Dame offense. He was arguably the best player on the field and one of the strongest performers from the first full week of collegiate action," Licciardi wrote. "The athletic traits returned in full force, his power made its presence felt and he came through in the game's biggest moment. Tennessee took an edge rusher in my last mock, and Bain made a good argument to be the position's top prospect on Saturday." The Titans clearly like what's going on at the University of Miami, taking a player from there in each of the past two drafts.
Now that the 2025 NFL trade deadline has come and gone, team needs have changed — and that means a new mock draft is in order. Here’s how our post-trade deadline 2026 NFL mock draft looks right now. Simpson could be the first quarterback drafted, after a very impressive first season as a full-time starter. He owns a 92.3 intermediate PFF passing grade as one of the best intermediate and middle-of-the-field passers in all of college football. He has made 14 big-time throws and just seven turnover-worthy plays this year. Bain has cooled down a bit after a red-hot start to the season, but the 6-foot-3, 270-pound edge rusher still boasts PFF run-defense and pass-rush grades above 90.0 for the year.
He’s the total package for any defensive front. Game grades, positional splits and high-level metrics for Bain's 2025 season. Moore, just a redshirt sophomore in his first season as a full-time starter, is not certain to be in this quarterback class. But there are signs of a top-five player if he declares. He has a 96.0 PFF passing grade on throws of 20 or more yards this year, with a 7.5% big-time throw rate to just a 1.7% turnover-worthy play rate.
