Tech Training Assignments Grading In Canvas University Of Colorado

A plus/minus grading system must be used. The use of '+' increases the numeric grade by 0.3 units while the use of '-' decreases the numeric grade by 0.3 units. Grades of 'A+,' 'F-' and 'F+' are not allowed. If a student has met the criteria for an incomplete, faculty may assign a grade of I and students have one year to complete the course as determined and agreed upon.
Expectations MUST be documented in an incomplete contract made between the student and faculty member. Students should contact their advisor to review restrictions regarding the pass/fail option. In most cases, the instructor will not have knowledge of the student's pass/fail grade option. For pass/fail courses, the instructor submits a letter grade and the system converts the grade to a P or F.
Passing grades appear on the transcript as a P, do not affect the student's grade point average, and the earned credit may count toward the overall degree as long as there are no restrictions. F grades appear on the transcript, have the same impact to the grade point average as a graded course and the student will not earn credit for that course. Canvas is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) that can be used as an additional space for instruction, a communication hub for students, as well as a place to collect, grade and track assignments.

The University of Colorado uses a variety of data types to facilitate the academic experience and advance student success. To promote good digital citizenship, CU Boulder has created a resource for our student and faculty communities to better understand how student data is used within OIT's services and tools. Faculty should make it a priority to grade student work in a timely manner.
The grading guideline is 1 week for small assignments and 2 weeks for larger projects. This will provide students timely feedback on their progress in the class throughout the semester. Faculty should use Canvas so that students can easily find all the class information including assignments and up-to-date grades. Final Exam periods are listed on myCuInfo. University Policy states that you must use the Final Exam Period. As many of our courses are studio based, faculty members often hold final project critiques during the final exam period.
Please familiarize yourself with the University Final Exam Policy. Final grading happens online through myCuInfo. Grades are due within 72 hours of your courses’ Final Exam Period. Students have the right to access their grades during any time during the semester. Due to the popularity of e-learning solutions, many students have the reasonable expectation that their grades will be accessible online. Faculty are highly encouraged to make Canvas a part of their interaction with the students.
Extra Credit Policy: In any given course, the combined maximum benefit of extra credit should be limited to one letter step (e.g. B+ to A-, C- to C). Extra Credit is a useful tool when used in moderation (to make up for an absence, a missed lab, etc.), but it should not be used in place of a student exhibiting mastery in... Extra credit assignments should directly relate to the content and practices of the course. A learning management system helps keep all students connected to course objectives and provides transparency about course expectations.
