suggested patriots trade lands monster return for the first overall

With one game left in the 2024 regular season, the New England Patriots currently hold the first-overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. A Patriots' loss to the Buffalo Bills in their Week 18 AFC East showdown at Gillette Stadium on Sunday would secure that selection while a victory would drop them down a few spots. If New England goes into the offseason with the top pick, they should consider moving it to a quarterback-needy team and add more talented players to their roster to help them rebuild quicker. Earlier this week DraftKings shared a hypothetical trade for the first-overall pick between the Patriots and the New York Giants. In the deal, New England would receive New York's first (No. 4 overall) and second-round picks in 2025, a first in 2026, a second in 2027 and edge rusher Brian Burns.

The Patriots’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17, coupled with wins from the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, put Jerod Mayo’s group into the spot for the... 1 pick heading into the regular season finale.

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is widely regarded as the most likely to go first overall. But since the Patriots used the No. 3 pick of 2024 on Drake Maye, the odds are strong that they’d trade that selection to the highest bidder. The @SavageSports_ X/Twitter account proposed a crazy trade idea that has the Patriots trading the No. 1 pick of 2025 to the Las Vegas Raiders for superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby, 2025 and 2026 first-round picks and a 2025 second-round pick. Despite what were some pretty strong pre-season expectations for the New England Patriots, they seem to have outperformed even what the most optimistic fans could have hoped for.

They are first in the AFC East, one game ahead of division rivals, the Buffalo Bills, whom the Patriots beat in Buffalo back in early October, and rank in the top-10 in both total... Not to mention, they have the best young and up-and-coming quarterback in all of football in Drake Maye, who leads the NFL in completion percentage at 75.2%, and is second only to Lamar Jackson... One area, however, in which the team still may be looking to up their overall performance is the rushing attack. Rhamondre Stevenson leads the team in rushing, with 279 yards – but his total comes only 29 yards ahead of that of Maye, who has 250. At just an average of 35 rushing yards/game, the Patriots could use an upgrade at the position. An upgrade that they are currently not finding with second round rookie, TreVeyon Henderson, who has been used inexplicably seldomly, despite averaging almost a yard more per carry (4.3) than Stevenson (3.4).

The top pick in the NFL draft has been traded 13 times since the league’s merger more than five decades ago. The New England Patriots could soon represent No. 14. New England finds itself in an advantageous position entering its season finale against the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots currently hold the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and a loss at Gillette Stadium on Sunday would mean the organization earns the top selection.

Since the Patriots have franchise quarterback Drake Maye, there’s reason to believe New England will trade No. 1 to a quarterback-needy team. New England would acquire more draft capital in that scenario. But what might a trade look like? While no two trades are the same — especially since some draft evaluators don’t view the 2025 quarterback class as highly as those in the past — we do have past trades to look... Although a win against the Bills in Week 18 slid the Patriots down the first-round draft order from the first overall pick to the fourth, they're still in a good position to improve their...

The suspected route is that they will stick and pick, likely their next starting left tackle or maybe an EDGE, assuming that the best receivers are already off the board. But there is some speculation they will still consider trading down with a team that might be hoping to land a new quarterback or even just to add more heavy hitters to their roster. If that's the case, New England could have a long list of potential trade partners since this year's incoming rookie class isn't expected to be one to remember. They could add more assets to their pile of pick while also landing an impact player as part of the package. That's one early prediction made by ESPN's Benjamin Solak. In a new article published by ESPN earlier this week full of predictions from multiple analysts and experts, the Patriots are predicted to be interested in trading away their coveted pick in order to...
