Our services include crisis counseling, emergency intervention, psychiatric evaluation and treatment, drop-in appointments, workshops and well-being promotion that supports the entire campus community. Since November 2023, I’ve had the privilege of working under Dr. Sandy Lai at the UCLA Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center to help develop a first-of-its-kind asynchronous care program addressing cold and flu symptoms. Since its launch, nearly 700 students have used this portal, significantly reducing patient visit times and accelerating access to appointments and treatment. Additionally, the health center has expanded asynchronous care to cover nearly 20 common illnesses and conditions affecting our campus community.
This past week, I had the incredible opportunity to present this program at the American College Health Association (ACHA) annual meeting in New Orleans. It was an immensely fulfilling experience to not only showcase the impact of our work, but also to learn about other health initiatives happening on campuses across the country. I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Sandy Lai for her outstanding mentorship and unwavering commitment to student health. I’m excited for the future of this program and the ongoing initiatives that will continue to enhance the student experience at UCLA.
