seahawks postgame jayden daniels injured again as commanders lose in

As if the Washington Commanders didn't have enough issues already in the midst of a very disappointing season, the team is now operating without the services of quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels has been sidelined since he suffered an ugly elbow injury in the Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The second-year quarterback was diagnosed with a dislocated elbow, which many initially believed might end his season. However, a recent update on Daniels says otherwise, opening the door for him to play again in 2025. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, tests revealed Daniels' injury isn't as bad as first believed, as the young quarterback avoided ligament damage and he doesn't need surgery. Rapoport adds that, right now, the team is not putting Daniels on injured reserve.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Daniels will have an MRI on Monday to determine how long he's out, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the plan. The belief, per Rapoport, is that the injury (to his non-throwing arm) might not be as bad as it could have been, but the signal-caller is expected to miss several games. Commanders coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Monday that Daniels dislocated his elbow but did not provide a timetable for the QB's return. The second-year quarterback suffered the injury when he was sacked by Seahawks defender Drake Thomas and was awkwardly slung to the ground. The serious nature of the injury was immediately evident, and Daniels' arm was quickly put into an air cast.

The Commanders (3-6) trailed the Seahawks, 38-7, with less than 8 minutes remaining when Daniels exited. Quinn said after the game there wasn't a conversation about pulling Daniels from the blowout loss, but he understands that it would have made sense in "hindsight." I do not use that word to go viral, or as a hot take. I don’t do hot takes. That word is used here because it describes, correctly, the decision to allow Daniels to stay on the field, in a game long since lost, in a season spiraling toward oblivion, and to continue... With time running down in the fourth quarter and Washington down 38-7, Daniels, for some reason, was allowed to go back on the field. He drove the Commanders down the field, toward a meaningless score that would do nothing to change how thoroughly and completely Seattle had dominated the Commanders all night long, in all three phases. And then, Jayden Daniels, because it’s how he’s wired, took off running again, this time from the Seattle 2-yard line with seven and a half minutes left in the game, trying to score.

And Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas, because it’s what he does for a living, grabbed Daniels and threw him to the ground. And Daniels, straining for that extra yard, fell awkwardly, on his left elbow. It was … it was awful. Don’t look at a replay of it. Ever. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who dislocated his left elbow late in Sunday night's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, avoided a serious injury and will not require surgery, CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported...

He will not be placed on injured reserve and the plan is to re-evaluate the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the year during the Week 12 bye later this month. "It's a good deal with no surgery," Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Friday. "Obviously that makes a big difference if you have an injury not to have to go down that road. I hope to give you guys an update after the bye week about where he is and where we go from there. After that, I'll give you an update on where it's at and it will give us a couple weeks to get to that space" Daniels was injured when Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas tackled him with less than eight minutes to play and the Commanders trailing 38-8.

As Daniels rolled over, he tried to use his non-throwing arm to steady himself; however, upon landing on the grass, his left elbow appeared to bend inwards at an unnatural angle. Commanders medical staffers rushed onto the field, bracing Daniels' left elbow and arm before the franchise's star signal caller walked off the field being steadied as he entered the tunnel. Daniels was set to undergo an MRI this week and was initially expected to be placed on injured reserve, but further evaluation revealed no ligament damage, according to NFL Network, allowing Washington to keep... The Washington Commanders' season is an exercise in Murphy's Law – whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. Jayden Daniels has already been bitten by the injury bug in 2025, but it came back for seconds in Week 9. The quarterback had a tough night at the office in his return to game action, but it was cut short halfway through the fourth quarter.

The Commanders were down 38-7 at the time of Daniels' injury, but the scene didn't look particularly good at Northwest Stadium. Editor's note: Due to the graphic nature of the injury, we will not share the video here. Here's what to know about the Commanders quarterback: The Washington Commanders were getting blown out in prime time Sunday, and then it got much, much worse. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was still in the game and running the ball in the fourth quarter despite the Commanders trailing the Seattle Seahawks by 31 points, was spun around on a tackle and... The result of the play was a dislocated elbow.

Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the injury to reporters in his Monday news conference. Per Quinn, Daniels did not sustain a fracture. He remains without a timeline to return, and Quinn did not clarify if Daniels will require surgery. It's not clear if Daniels will return this season. "It'll knock him our for a while," Quinn said of the injury. Teammates surrounded Daniels on the field Sunday night as he got looked at by the athletic training staff.

Daniels had a temporary cast put on his left arm, he walked to the sideline and to the locker room. Monday began with a glimmer of hope when NFL Network reported Daniels’ injury is “not as bad as it could have been,” and he’ll “miss several games.” Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) injures his arm as he is tackled by Seattle Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas (42) during the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, in Landover, Md.
