Run Watson Nlp For Embed On Your Local Computer With Docker
In this blog, I will demonstrate how to run the Watson for NLP Library locally using containers with Docker. For initial context, read my blog [Introducing IBM Watson for Embed] The IBM Watson for NLP Library comprises two components: You first need to decide which models you want to use, according to the use cases. This helps minimise the size of the resulting container. You can also train your own models which I will blog about separately.
The pre-trained models provided by IBM are delivered as containers which are usually run as init containers when deploying to Kubernetes. To use the pre-trained models with a standalone container (e.g. locally using Docker), you need to extract the model from the model container and combine it with the runtime to create a custom image, using a Dockerfile. This is an example about, how to use Watson NLP based on the official example documentation:IBM Watson Libraries for Embed. Visit the related blog post Run Watson NLP for Embed on your local computer with Docker. Verify the running Watson NLP container by open a new terminal session and execute an API call.

It combines the best of open source and IBM Research NLP algorithms to deliver superior AI capabilities developers can access and integrate into their apps in the environment of their choice. Offered to partners as embeddable AI, a first of its kind software portfolio that offers best of breed AI from IBM. The Watson NLP library is available as containers providing REST and gRPC interfaces. While this offering is new, the underlaying functionality has been used and optimized for a long time in IBM offerings like the IBM Watson Assistant and NLU (Natural Language Understanding) SaaS services and IBM... Watson NLP comes with a wide variety of text processing functions, such as emotion analysis and topic modeling. Watson NLP is built on top of the best AI open source software.
Additionally it provides stable and supported interfaces, it handles a wide range of languages and its quality is enterprise proven. This blog post is about using the IBM Watson Natural Language Processing Library for Embed on IBM Cloud Code Engine and is related to my blog post Run Watson NLP for Embed on your... IBM Cloud Code Engine is a fully managed, serverless platform where you can run container images or batch jobs. The IBM Watson Libraries for Embed are made for IBM Business Partners. Partners can get additional details about embeddable AI on the IBM Partner World page. If you are an IBM Business Partner you can get a free access to the IBM Watson Natural Language Processing Library for Embed.
To get started with the libraries you can use the link Watson Natural Language Processing Library for Embed home. It is an awesome documentation and it is public available. I used parts of the IBM Watson documentation in my Code Engine example and I created a GitHub project with some additional example bash scripting. The project is called Run Watson NLP for Embed on your IBM Cloud Code Engine. The IBM Watson Libraries for Embed do provide a lot of pre-trained models you can find in the related model catalog for the Watson Libraries. Here is a link to the model catalog for Watson NLP, the catalog is public available.
If you want to check out the Watson Natural Language Processing service only, you can get a free trial on IBM Cloud. I created a GitHub project with some additional example bash scripting. The project is called Run Watson NLP for Embed on your local computer with Docker. This short blog post is about where you can find great simple tutorials for “Watson Libraries for Embed“. First you can start on the official IBM Watson Libraries for Embed documentation.
But here I want to highlight the tutorials made by the Build Lab Team available on the public GitHub. Here are three tutorials to run Watson Libraries for Embed in Docker on your local machine: If you are an IBM Business Partner, you can also find these tutorials by using the IBM Technology Zone (TechZone): For IBM Partner is also an interactive self-service available for you called “IBM Digital SelfService Co-Create Experience for Embeddable AI”. You can access this self-service by using the IBM Partner World. There is an article called Let’s embed AI into products to deliver differentiated solutions, that contains the link to the self-service.
