Rigetti Quantum S Dark Horse Takes Flight Nasdaq Rgti
Rigetti Computing Inc. (NASDAQ:RGTI) just flipped the switch on its biggest quantum breakthrough yet – and for once, Wall Street didn't sleep through it. The company's reveal of a 36-qubit modular quantum system with record-setting fidelity has investors scrambling, sending RGTI stock up 14.5% by 10 a.m. ET. Quantum might still be years from going mainstream, but Rigetti's stock is having its moment right now. Rigetti has built the largest modular quantum computer yet by linking together four 9-qubit chips to create a 36-qubit system.
But it's not just about size—the company also cut its error rate in half, reaching 99.5% accuracy in how its qubits work together. That's a major step toward making quantum computers more reliable. What makes this even more impressive is that Rigetti isn't just talking about modular quantum design – it's actually delivering. With real data, real performance and a clear path to building a 100+ qubit system by the end of the year, Rigetti is turning big quantum ideas into working technology. Founded in 2013 by Chad Rigetti, a physicist and entrepreneur, Rigetti Computing set out with a bold mission: to democratize quantum computing and make it accessible to researchers, businesses, and developers around the world. Over the last decade, the company has navigated significant technological challenges, shifting market expectations, and the rapidly evolving landscape of quantum information science. Rigetti Computing was born in Berkeley, California, a hotbed of technological innovation and scientific research. From the start, the company differentiated itself by focusing not just on quantum hardware, but also on building a full-stack solution—integrating quantum chips, control electronics, and cloud-based software into a seamless package. This vision contrasted with many competitors who concentrated narrowly on hardware or software, positioning Rigetti as a pioneer in building usable quantum computing platforms. In its initial years, Rigetti raised significant venture capital funding and attracted top-tier talent from academia and industry.
The company’s approach to superconducting qubits—a type of quantum bit central to many quantum computers—formed the core of its hardware strategy. Rigetti’s researchers worked relentlessly on improving qubit coherence times, error rates, and scalability, aiming to bridge the gap between experimental physics and commercial applications. The company’s signature achievement in the mid-2010s was the development and public release of the Forest cloud platform. This platform allowed developers to write, simulate, and run quantum algorithms remotely on Rigetti’s quantum processors. By prioritizing ease-of-use and open access, Rigetti fostered a community of early adopters who helped advance quantum programming techniques and identified real-world use cases. As the quantum computing race accelerated, Rigetti found itself competing against much larger players, including IBM, Google, and Microsoft.
Despite its smaller size, Rigetti’s agile approach allowed it to innovate rapidly. The company achieved milestones such as demonstrating quantum advantage in select computational tasks and increasing the number of qubits on its devices. As millionaire penny stock trader and teacher Tim Sykes says, “Consistency is key in trading; don’t let emotions dictate your trades.” This advice is crucial for traders who often find themselves swayed by market... By sticking to a consistent trading strategy and maintaining discipline, traders can avoid making impulsive decisions driven by fear or greed. Over time, this consistency can help improve their trading performance and enhance their ability to make rational decisions even in the face of market fluctuations. Rigetti Computing’s financial performance offers a mixed yet insightful lens into its journey in the world of quantum computing. For those keeping an eye on revenues, the company recorded a revenue of $12.008M. While this is promising, the profitability margins tell a story full of challenges.
The EBIT margin stands in the negative at -489.4%, highlighting the substantial costs relative to the revenue generated. However, the shift is not unexpected given the heavy R&D investments typical of a tech innovator in its early stages. The gross margin indicates a glimmer of positivity at 60.6%, suggesting that once Rigetti scales its operations, it could potentially see healthier profit levels. There’s optimism in their strong liquidity positions, shown by a current ratio of 4.8, which signifies sound short-term financial health. Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ:RGTI) is back in the spotlight. After a punishing stretch in 2022 and 2023, the quantum computing firm has staged a remarkable turnaround—its stock soaring more than 1,000% over the past year.
Now, Wall Street is starting to take notice. On Wednesday, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Troy Jensen initiated coverage on Rigetti with an Overweight rating and a bullish $15 price target. Although the stocks have all experienced meaningful appreciation and are trading at steep valuations based on any near-term revenue or earnings forecast, Jensen still noted upside given the strategic value of quantum computing. According to the analyst, of the primary technologies believed to be capable of reaching quantum status, superconducting has seen the most investment. The money says yes. 💰 The surge in Rigetti and D-Wave isn't a fluke; it’s a market repricing the timeline for quantum value.
For years, the question was "if." Now, it's "how fast?" Look at the proof points: D-Wave raised $400M and now sits on an $819M war chest. That's not survival capital; that's scale capital. Rigetti just secured two Novera system sales for $5.7M. The era of commercial quantum hardware sales is officially here. The market is no longer just rewarding research milestones. It's rewarding tangible commercial and government contracts.
Capital is flowing to companies that can demonstrate a clear path from qubit to cash flow. We are witnessing the birth of a new computing paradigm… What industry will be the first to be completely upended by quantum commercialization? #FutureOfTech #QuantumComputing #ScaleWithAI The Power of Narrative Chain Reaction Every theme rotation starts with one quiet leader. When RGTI breaks out, it often triggers a chain reaction across the Quantum Computing theme — with IONQ, QBTS, and QUBT following the move. This is how narrative ignition begins — one spark, multiple accelerations.
Tracked in real time at Bigger Picture Trading. #ThematicMomentum #SwingTrading #SystematicTrading #OptionsTrading #QuantumComputing #ContagiousMomentum #ImpliedVolatility Rigetti Computing is holding a cash reserve of $571 million, raising questions about whether it’s enough to achieve quantum advantage or just buy more time. CEO Subodh Kulkarni told Benzinga that the company has enough liquidity to meet operational needs for at least a year, and possibly much longer. The company’s $350 million June 2025 offering bolstered its balance sheet, leaving Rigetti debt-free. Kulkarni said the funds are being used to expand fabrication capacity and scale toward 100+ qubits as fidelity improves.
He added that Rigetti will keep adjusting production volume based on market demand and regional opportunities. Unlike some competitors, Rigetti hasn’t tied future fundraising to a specific trigger or milestone. Kulkarni said the board continually monitors capital needs but has no immediate plans to raise more money. That flexibility is reassuring for investors but also highlights the uncertainty of the quantum race. Building reliable quantum computers is expensive and unpredictable, and costs could surge if commercial or government demand grows faster than expected. For now, Rigetti’s $571 million cash position gives it room to execute on its roadmap without new funding.
But investors remain cautious, watching the company’s spending pace and progress toward quantum advantage.
