Revenue came in at $1.8 million, down from $3.1 million in the prior year. Gross margin also narrowed to 31% from 64%, reflecting lower-margin government contracts. Even so, Rigetti strengthened its position by raising $350 million through an equity offering, ending the quarter with a healthy $571.6 million in cash and no debt.

That financial cushion gives the company flexibility to continue investing aggressively in research and development while weathering near-term losses. On the innovation side, Rigetti continued to push boundaries. The company introduced Cepheus-1-36Q, the largest multichip quantum computer demonstrated to date, achieving a two-fold reduction in error rates compared with its earlier system. Management expressed confidence in delivering a 100-plus qubit chiplet-based system with 99.5% gate fidelity before year-end, underscoring its focus on scaling toward quantum advantage. While peers such as Arqit Quantum ARQQ, D-Wave Quantum QBTS, and Quantum Computing Inc. QUBT pursue alternative paths ranging from quantum encryption to annealing and software-first solutions, Rigetti’s progress in superconducting qubits highlights a differentiated strategy aimed at building scalable, fault-tolerant hardware.

For investors, the key will be monitoring Rigetti’s ability to sustain this technical momentum, the reauthorizing of the National Quantum Initiative and the company’s progress in converting its strong cash position into meaningful commercial... Rigetti’s shares have held up better than some quantum peers in the year-to-date period, even as the sector remains volatile. RGTI stock has gained 9.1% so far this year. Shares of QUBT and ARQQ have lost 7.4% and 15.2%, respectively. By contrast, QBTS has surged 102.5% over the same timeframe. The broader Zacks Internet - Software Industry has advanced 22.9%, showing that Rigetti continues to make steady progress while outpacing certain competitors.

BERKELEY, Calif., Aug. 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rigetti Computing, Inc. (RGTI) (“Rigetti” or the “Company”), a pioneer in full-stack quantum-classical computing, today announced its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2025. Second Quarter 2025 and Recent Financial Highlights “We continue to achieve our ambitious roadmap goals, most recently by demonstrating the industry’s largest multi-chip quantum computer with impressive performance. Our industry-leading proprietary chiplet approach to scaling and strong financial position makes us confident in hitting our end-of-year technology goals,” says Dr.

Subodh Kulkarni, Rigetti CEO. Rigetti’s Multi-Chip Quantum Computer, Cepheus™-1-36Q, the Industry’s Largest Multi-Chip Quantum Computer, is Released for General Availability and Deployed on the Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services Platform (QCS®), and will be Available on Microsoft Azure Thereafter With the general availability of Cepheus-1-36Q, Rigetti continues its recent improvements in performance, obtaining a 2x reduction in two-qubit gate error rate from its previous Ankaa™-3 system, and achieving a median two-qubit gate fidelity... Cepheus-1-36Q is the first multi-chip quantum computer in the industry to achieve this level of performance, and with four chips, contains the largest number of chiplets in a quantum computer. This further validates Rigetti’s approach to scaling its quantum computing systems. Rigetti Computing is little changed in postmarket trading even as the quantum computing company delivered lower-than-expected revenue yet again.

Revenue: $1.8 million (compared to estimates for $1.87 million). Operating loss: -$19.9 million (estimated -$20.9 million). Of course, with revenues so low to begin with in what is very much an emerging growth industry, any technological breakthroughs and shifting investor sentiment toward quantum computing will likely be bigger drivers of... “We continue to achieve our ambitious road map goals, most recently by demonstrating the industry’s largest multi-chip quantum computer with impressive performance,” CEO Dr. Subodh Kulkarni said. “Our industry-leading proprietary chiplet approach to scaling and strong financial position makes us confident in hitting our end-of-year technology goals.”

These 14 companies survived and thrived after COVID and have the right ingredients to survive Trump's tariffs. Discover why before your portfolio feels the trade war pinch. For Rigetti Computing, the central investment belief hinges on the long-term promise of quantum computing breakthroughs and the potential for its technology to achieve widespread adoption well before profitability. The recent Q2 results, which showed weaker revenues and a larger net loss, serve as an immediate reminder of just how early-stage Rigetti’s commercial traction really is.

However, management’s ongoing focus on hardware progress and new partnerships acts as a short-term catalyst that could drive pockets of optimism, even if the financials remain challenging. After the earnings release, risk factors like persistent cash burn and share dilution may be pushed even further into the spotlight, but these appear to be largely priced in already following a year of... In the short term, key catalysts remain new contract wins and government awards, while risks are firmly rooted in commercial adoption and the pace of ongoing losses. On the flip side, growing dilution risk is something every shareholder should keep front of mind.
