Fostering Your Success' (FYS) mission is to provide a welcoming, supportive environment for students with experiences in foster care settings, group home settings, kinship care and emancipation. The role of the deans of students is to ensure that appropriate resources and opportunities exist to support our students' success. The deans work with a wide variety of student services to provide opportunities for student learning and development in academic courses and through extracurricular activities. The deans of students work in conjunction with our college faculty to provide a supportive, learner-centered environment. CCAC annually educates more than 30,000 credit students through almost 140 degree, certificate, diploma and transfer programs and offers thousands of students access to noncredit and workforce development courses. It is in effect for students who begin their studies or change their programs during or after Fall 2025. Health programs are separately accredited by appropriate regulatory agencies. The Community College of Allegheny County is a member of the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education (PCHE). The Counseling Services office at each campus is staffed with counselors who can help you navigate your college journey and guide you in making critical decisions related to career and transfer. They can also offer essential resources to support well-being and mental health, including referrals to Allegheny Health Network (AHN) therapists who provide on-campus therapeutic services. Counselors can assist with exploration of transfer institutions and the development of a transfer plan, identification of career goals, application of academic strategies to improve academic success, and discussion of personal concerns that may... More than half the students at CCAC plan to transfer to four-year colleges and universities to continue their education.

Students should meet with a counselor to identify the college they plan to attend after CCAC and the major they intend to pursue. Counselors assist students by helping select courses that are transferable to four-year colleges and universities. CCAC has articulation agreements with a variety of institutions to ensure the transferability of CCAC courses. Students who wish to gain more information about themselves in relation to potential career options are invited to schedule an appointment for assessment. Once interest and personality inventories have been completed, an evaluation is provided by a counselor, and students can begin to make appropriate educational and career plans. Students are required to see a counselor before registering for courses if they are on academic suspension. Counselors assess the terms of students' academic suspension and provide them with the tools to successfully reach their educational goals. Counselors assist students with a variety of academic and personal concerns in an open and accepting environment. Issues may include work/life balance struggles, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, loneliness, fear of failure, relationship conflict, feeling overwhelmed, and other issues that may impact mental health and well-being.
