April 7, 2025 – The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Memphis Chapter announces the launch of its inaugural PRSA Memphis Scholarship aimed at supporting public relations and communications students in the Mid-South. This scholarship reflects the chapter's commitment to nurturing the next generation of public relations leaders and strengthening the pipeline of talent in the region. The scholarship will provide $500 annually to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at one of the region’s 11 eligible institutions, including the University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College, and Rhodes College. “This scholarship represents our investment in students who bring creativity, commitment, and potential to the Mid-South’s communications field,” said PRSA Memphis President Elizabeth Whittington, APR. “As a chapter and community, we want to provide students with the resources and mentorship they need to succeed in their studies and beyond.” Eligible students must be full-time, degree-seeking individuals majoring in public relations, communications, or related fields.

Applicants will be evaluated on their academic achievements, leadership roles, including in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), extracurricular involvement, and recommendations from faculty or professionals in the field. Applications are now open, with a deadline of April 30, 2025. To sustain and grow this scholarship, PRSA Memphis will fundraise in the community to fully endow the fund to $10,000. “We’re excited to invite our members and corporate partners to be part of this effort,” said Carleigh Harbin, PRSA Memphis board member and PRSSA liaison. “Together, we can create meaningful opportunities for the students who will shape the future of public relations.” Public Relations Society of America Inc.
