by KAYLA GASKINS | The National News Desk WASHINGTON (TNND) — Federal investigators are releasing new details in the case against the man accused of assassinating activist Charlie Kirk, even as thousands gathered in the nation’s capital to honor his memory. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that investigators recovered DNA evidence directly linking the suspect to the crime. Patel said DNA hits from a towel wrapped around the firearm, as well as a screwdriver retrieved at the scene, matched the individual now in custody. Authorities also uncovered evidence that a note was written before the attack. “The suspect wrote a note saying, ‘I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,’” Patel revealed.

The note was reportedly left inside the home the suspect shared with a partner. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed that the suspect lived with a boyfriend who is transitioning from male to female. Cox said family members and acquaintances told investigators the accused had become “deeply indoctrinated with left-wing ideology.” FBI Director Kash Patel revealed on Fox News Monday that federal investigators uncovered a chilling message from the suspect accused of assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Authorities identified and later arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson after a family friend tipped them off Thursday, citing his political radicalization and anger at Kirk holding an event at Utah Valley University.

Speaking on “Hannity,” Patel shared a few private messages the FBI has uncovered. “The evidence and information will come out. I won’t stylize the evidence. The attorney general is absolutely right. We can’t do that. But I will say what was found in terms of information, a text message exchange where he, the suspect, specifically stated that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was...

Patel said the Department of Justice has mobilized extensive resources to investigate every individual who had contact with the suspect accused of assassinating Kirk. “We are dedicating every asset we have to run the reverse data chain analysis of anyone that was in contact with the suspect that’s currently in custody and anyone he contacted, called and text... “That’s the power of the FBI. That’s the resources we brought in immediately with our cell phone analytic team to use the cell phone tower data dump system to geolocate specifically where this cell phone was and who had it.” The FBI director sparred with Sens.

FBI Director Kash Patel's activities during the investigation of conservative activist Charlie Kirk's assassination raise questions about his decision-making during a crisis, four former FBI officials and two administration officials told NBC News. From the shooting Wednesday to a suspect's arrest Friday, Patel took steps that gave pause to some federal and local officials and raised questions about his judgment, the sources said. Several spoke on the condition of anonymity, some because they were not authorized to speak publicly and others citing fear of retaliation from the Trump administration. Those actions ranged from where Patel was on the evening of the assassination to what a former official described as his "grandstanding" about his own role after the arrest. "He has heard concerns about how this looks," an administration official said in a statement. "There are a lot of shaking heads."

In an interview on "Fox & Friends" on Monday, Patel defended his handling of the investigation, including social media posts he made the day of the shooting.
