No Kings Nola Mobilize
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - More than 10,000 New Orleans residents are expected to take part in the NO KINGS 2.0 Rally on Saturday, Oct. 18 to oppose what organizers call increasing authoritarianism and corruption within the Trump administration. The event is part of the National No Kings Day of Peaceful Action, which includes more than 2,650 demonstrations across the country. Louisiana will host rallies in 10 locations — New Orleans, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Hammond, Leesville, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, Ruston and Shreveport. New Orleans is one of 10 “anchor cities” selected by the National Indivisible Project, which is providing event and security guidance for local organizers. Organizers say the rally could become the largest single-day nonviolent demonstration in U.S.

A post shared by Maddie Kerth (@maddiekerthfox8) On October 18, more than 7 million of us rose up at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states, DC, and cities worldwide to say: America has no kings, and the power belongs... Now, our task is to stay vigilant, stay united, and continue to push back. In June, millions of everyday Americans from every walk of life peacefully took to the streets and declared with one voice: No Kings. The world saw the power of the people, and President Trump’s attempt at a coronation collapsed under the strength of a movement rising against his abuses of power.
Now, he’s doubling down — sending militarized agents into our communities, silencing voters, and handing billionaires giveaways while families struggle. This isn’t just politics. It’s democracy versus dictatorship. And together, we’re choosing democracy. Back in June, Indivisible and a coalition of pro-democracy organizations mobilized to create the "No Kings" protest. No Kings demonstrations took place in towns and cities in every state in order to reject corrupt, authoritarian politics in the U.S., according to Indivisible.
Now, more protests are planned to take place on Oct. 18, with 1,500 events throughout the U.S. already established, according to Fight for a Union. So far, five No Kings demonstrations are scheduled to take place throughout Louisiana on Oct. 18. "On October 18, millions of us are rising again to show the world: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people," says No Kings.

Thousands of people rallied in New Orleans on Saturday morning for the nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations against President Donald Trump’s authoritarian regime. Scores of demonstrators, many in costume, gathered near Mandeville and Decatur streets at 10 a.m., waving handmade signs and chanting various slogans. Among their top concerns are Trump’s anti-immigrant policies, restrictions on reproductive and LGBTQ rights and his administration’s suppression of scientific and medical research.

Army. Thousands assembled in sweltering heat at a vacant lot in the historic Marigny neighborhood, adjacent to the French Quarter. The city block-sized property slowly emptied as organizers led the crowd down residential streets, with police blocking traffic at intersections along the way to a culminating rally in Washington Square Park.
Tourists and locals along Frenchmen Street, including passengers on a mule-drawn carriage, unknowingly became part of the procession. “No kings! No Trump!” a man shouted from his balcony, drawing cheers from the crowd below. More than 30 minutes after speeches began at the rally, elements of the parade were still arriving to the park. Pro LGBTQ+ marchers and their signs were prominent among the anti-Trump displays, with the annual Nola Pride Fest also bringing them to the city for the weekend.
