More particularly, the unlawful assembly was declared in an area surrounding the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse and the Metropolitan Detention Center. The following day, protests broke out in the Los Angeles County cities of Paramount and Compton, which are about 16 and 15 miles, respectively, route-dependent, south of downtown Los Angeles.
