This is a big "if" pick.

The results weren't exactly in accordance with others' snap judgments after what took place on the draft's first night in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Most notably, AI seemed more wary of the Jacksonville Jaguars making a trade to pick Heisman winner Travis Hunter than some NFL experts.

It was similarly concerned about quarterback Jaxson Dart's selection by the New York Giants after trading up to No. 25. But AI grades for the Cleveland Browns and No. 5 pick Mason Graham, as well as the Carolina Panthers and No. 8 pick Tetairoa McMillan, were higher than most. In total, AI handed out a grade of 'A' or 'A-' to all but six of the 32 first-round picks made Thursday night.

Its lowest grade was a B- for Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart, who was chosen No. 17 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. Compare that to USA TODAY's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, who gave an 'A' or 'A-' to four teams and a 'C' or 'C+' to six teams. Daniels blossomed in his fifth and final year of college football, taking home the Heisman Trophy in a dazzling season for LSU. Daniels is on the older side and doesn't have elite physical tools as a passer but he'll be an immediate asset in the run game. Drake Maye felt like a better pick. Regardless, the Commanders desperately needed a quarterback and they got one. Grade: C+ [On IOS?
