Much of the dust has settled from NFL free agency and teams now have a clearer picture of what they need in the 2025 NFL Draft. Teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets have addressed their quarterback situations with new acquisitions while the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers continue trying to figure out if their answer... With needs clarified and the draft class further evaluated, our NFL beat writers and staff convened for their second first-round mock draft playing the roles of GM for every team in the league. Most of the draft order stayed the same but a couple of deals shook up the end of the round. The results certainly differ from our beat mock draft in February. Here’s how it all shook out.

The transition is complete, from suggestions early in the offseason that the Titans were looking to bail out of this spot and pick up much-needed draft capital — or take Travis Hunter or Abdul... The veteran market may have something to do with that. The lack of urgency of potential trade partners may have something to do with it. But the Titans clearly grew enamored with Ward as they got to know him during the process and listened to him talk through film that is both exciting and a bit too risky at... This organization successfully drafted one franchise quarterback high in the draft: Steve McNair in 1995. Ward follows Vince Young, Jake Locker and Marcus Mariota in the list of attempts over 30 years since then.

The Giants have Tommy DeVito as the only quarterback on the roster. That underscores the desperation of the situation, even though they’ll surely add a veteran starter before the draft. Still, general manager Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll need to sell a future at QB to ownership as they’re on the hot seat entering their fourth season. There are plenty of skeptics about Sanders’ potential to be the type of franchise-altering addition Jayden Daniels was last year for the Commanders.

The Titans haven't had one in a while, so they have to take a shot here. Clearly, Ward is the top option this year. The Browns could use a quarterback following the Deshaun Watson debacle, but my sense is that they're not in love with any of the options after Ward. While people might scream "trade down!," teams have to find a willing partner. If no one likes the quarterbacks, then it's going to be hard to get a huge return for this pick. I think they will stay here and take the two-way threat in Hunter.

Cam Ward is probably going first overall to the Tennessee Titans. Say what you want about Ward, but this is how NFL teams sustain success for the long-term - they find someone who they think can be the guy and simply draft him, regardless of... The Titans are probably high enough on Ward, and with their additions along the offensive line this offseason, the young QB could be set up for some success. Given how weak the AFC South is, Cam Ward and the Titans might have a quicker path to success than we think. Travis Hunter is easily the best athlete in the 2025 NFL Draft and might also be the best player in the draft. Many have mocked Abdul Carter to the Browns with this pick, but Hunter can legitimately play two positions and would fill multiple needs for the Browns.

The Buffaloes hurler enjoyed a dazzling collegiate career, starring at Jackson State before racking up a slew of accolades during a glittering two-year spell in Boulder alongside his father, Deion. Sanders won't be the first overall pick — his athletic limitations and lack of a golden arm have made him a polarizing prospect in the eyes of fans and scouts alike. Nevertheless, Sanders' accuracy, poise and moxie have some clamoring for Buffaloes' QB's services, likening his skillset to other gifted pocket passers, including Geno Smith.
