new england patriots insider reveals team s 4 top targets in nfl free

The New England Patriots have the most cap space in the league this offseason, with more than $100 million that can be spent in NFL free agency. While a few of the top NFL free agents have come off the board, there are reportedly still several high-end Patriots free agent targets who could be signed. When the 2025 NFL offseason began, guard Trey Smith and wide receiver Tee Higgins were viewed as the top Patriots free agent targets. With nearly $130 million in cap space, New England had the financial flexibility to get into a bidding war with anyone and come out on top. However, Higgins and Smith are receiving the franchise tag from their respective teams. Related: 2025 NFL mock draft, see who New England Patriots land

While that’s a bit of a blow to New England’s initial plans, there are still quality starters available at multiple positions of need. That includes the offensive line and at wide receiver, positions that the team is also expected to prioritize early in the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, the Patriots’ top targets in NFL free agency are offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, cornerback Charvarius Ward, wide receiver Chris Godwin and defensive tackle... The New England Patriots are positioned to be one of the league's most active players on the free agency market this NFL offseason. Coming in with over $125 million to spend on the open market, the Patriots have the ability to make some major improvements on both sides of the ball with significant veteran additions. And with the clock ticking down before free agency opens, New England is seemingly narrowing down their primary targets to a few top names.

According to the Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed, four players emerge at the top of the list as top targets for the Patriots to kick off free agency: Ronnie Stanley, Milton Williams,... It's an interesting pool to dissect. The biggest potential addition of the bunch is Stanley, the Baltimore Ravens' longtime left tackle who hits free agency with a chance to get a big payday. The Patriots could benefit tremendously from his services as a stable option on the offensive line and a veteran voice in the locker room for New England's young core. Then the two defensive standouts –– Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward, are also strong candidates to fit into the Patriots' defense. Williams has frequently been linked to New England as a priority add into Mike Vrabel's new scheme on the front seven, while Ward would be an appealing number two option to pair in the...

Boasting over $100 million in cap room, the Patriots are expecting to aggressively target upgrades on both sides of the ball. Fixing an offensive line that allowed the NFL’s fifth-most sacks last season while bolstering a defensive front that finished with the league’s fewest sacks will surely be priorities, but how will the Patriots’ biggest... The Athletic’s Chad Graff recently outlined who the Patriots’ top free agency targets should be this offseason, and to no surprise, they’re all pricey additions.

The first is former All-Pro Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley. The second is former Minnesota Vikings left tackle Cam Robinson. Lastly, Graff believes the third Patriots free agency target should be former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams. We're all about NFL, CFB, NBA, and MLB news, rumors and lists. That includes the offensive line and at wide receiver, positions that the team is also expected to prioritize early in the 2025 NFL Draft. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel intends to be “aggressive” in NFL free agency. New England fans might have a better idea of what that sort of aggression could look like after a report from the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed published Sunday. The Herald identified four players as “top targets” for the Patriots, citing sources. They are Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin. New England, however, reportedly is doubtful Godwin will leave Tampa Bay.

Godwin is viewed as the second-best receiver set to hit free agency behind only Tee Higgins. All four are ranked inside the top 10 of ESPN’s top 50 impending free agents list. All are figured to command big dollars on the open market and would fill a variety of needs in Foxboro, Mass. After their second consecutive four-win season, Patriots general manager Eliot Wolf knows he has a lot of work to do upgrading the roster from a pretender to a potential contender. It might not all happen in one offseason, but if the Patriots can secure some of their top targets this offseason, they just might be in for a quick turnaround in a shaky AFC... So, who could the Patriots target with all that cap space? It sounds like they don’t plan on pursuing Tee Higgins, but The Athletic’s Chad Graff did reveal two other names to monitor in New England. “A couple of names to monitor as the Patriots plan to make over their defensive line in free agency?” Graff asked. “Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, two members of that Eagles defensive line that dominated in the Super Bowl.”

The New England Patriots know the task at hand this offseason after finishing with a 4-13 record for the second year in a row. Unlike last offseason, the Patriots enter this stage knowing who their franchise quarterback is. Now they just need to help Drake Maye reach his full potential. Some might think that plan could involve pursuing a receiver who many believe is the best free agent available, especially considering the Patriots have the NFL’s most cap space. Yet, that’s not what’s believed to be in the cards. Related: 1 bold prediction for every NFL team this offseason, including the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots don’t have an established No. 1 receiver who’s earned the right to be one of Drake Maye’s first read on any given passing play. That could change this offseason, but it likely won’t involve Tee Higgins coming to New England. According to The Athletic’s Chad Graff, the Patriots are “out on” Higgins and will instead focus on upgrading the offensive and defensive lines.
