netflix announces its broadcasters for 2 nfl christmas day games

For the second straight year, the NFL is turning to Netflix to help broadcast their now annual slate of Christmas Day games. As the league celebrates the holiday, Netflix will be airing the first two of the NFL’s three Christmas Day Games. Netflix will broadcast a game between the Cowboys at the Commanders at 1 p.m. ET followed by a matchup between the Lions at the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. ET. The holiday will conclude with the NFL’s final game—Broncos at Chiefs—taking place at 8:15 p.m.

ET on Amazon Prime. As the holiday season approaches, here’s a look at the broadcast teams for the two Netflix games. The Netflix Christmas Day broadcasts will be a family affair once again for CBS Sports’ Ian Eagle and NBC Sports’ Noah Eagle, with the father-son duo each calling a Netflix game this year. Both Ian and Noah also called games for the NFL on Christmas last year. Ian will be joined in the booth by CBS Sports’ analysts Nate Burleson and Matt Ryan. Burleson and Ryan typically work on the CBS pregame desk, but they will get the opportunity to call a game this Christmas.

CBS Sports’ Melanie Collins will return to the sidelines on Christmas this year while NFL Network’s Sara Walsh joins the Christmas broadcast for the first time. Netflix revealed its broadcasting assignments for a Christmas Day doubleheader on Tuesday. For the second straight year, the streamer will exclusively air NFL action on Dec. 25. The Dallas Cowboys play the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET, followed by an NFC North clash between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.

Netflix shared a loaded broadcasting team for the holiday festivities. The Eagle family may have to move any plans to another day. Ian Eagle will announce the first game for Netflix. His son, Noah Eagle, is the play-by-play announcer for the second matchup. Matt Ryan and Nate Burleson will serve as game analysts alongside the older Eagle. Netflix tabbed Sara Walsh and Melanie Collins as sideline reporters.

Netflix will air two NFL games on Christmas Day for the second straight year, both featuring division rivals. The slate opens with the Washington Commanders hosting the Dallas Cowboys, followed by the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Detroit Lions later in the day. In addition to the on-field action, Netflix’s broadcast team features a lineup of familiar names and notable talent. Leading the early game broadcast is Ian Eagle on play-by-play. Eagle, one of the top voices in sports, calls NFL and college basketball for CBS and also covers the Brooklyn Nets for YES Network and NBA games on Prime Video. Joining Eagle as game analysts are former NFL MVP Matt Ryan and Emmy Award winner Nate Burleson, both mainstays on CBS’s “NFL Today” crew.

Sideline reporting will be handled by Sara Walsh of NFL Network and Melanie Collins of CBS. For the pregame and postgame shows, Kay Adams will serve as desk host, joined by NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, three-time Super Bowl champion Devin McCourty, and Austin Ekeler, who makes his first... (Ekeler was PFSN’s No. 4-ranked RB on its impact metric in 2021.) Adams typically works with FanDuel TV, Irvin with NFL Network, and McCourty on NBC’s “Football Night in America.” Calling the second game is Noah Eagle, the son of Ian Eagle, on play-by-play. He also covers college football for NBC Sports and the Brooklyn Nets for YES Network.

The second set of Christmas Day NFL games on Netflix will bring back several of the people who called the action the first time around. The NFL and the streamer announced the names of the people calling the two games on Tuesday. As was the case last year, CBS Sports is producing the games for Netflix, and all three members of the booth for the early game on Christmas (Dallas Cowboys at Washington Commanders) will come... Ian Eagle will do play-by-play for the game, joined by analysts Nate Burleson and Matt Ryan. Eagle is CBS’ No. 2 NFL play-by-play announcer, and Burleson and Ryan (both former NFL players) work on CBS’ Sunday pregame show The NFL Today.

Burleson also co-hosts CBS Mornings. Eagle and Burleson called one of Netflix’s Christmas games last season, along with fellow CBS analyst JJ Watt. The late afternoon game (Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings) will have NBC’s Noah Eagle (Ian’s son) on play by play and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees as analyst. Noah Eagle also did play by play for Netflix a year ago, while Brees will make a return to the broadcast booth. He was with NBC Sports for a couple of years following his retirement from the NFL. Netflix will have a full house on Christmas Day. Ahead of the streaming platform's first NFL doubleheader on Christmas Day— Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (1 p.m.

ET), followed by Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans (4:30 p.m. ET) — Netflix announced an extensive, star-studded lineup that features analysts from many networks. Ian Eagle (CBS) will kick things off as the play-by-play announcer for the first matchup between the Steelers and Chiefs at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. He will be accompanied in the booth by analysts Nate Burleson (CBS) and J.J. Watt (CBS) and on the sidelines by Melanie Collins (CBS) and Stacey Dales (NFL Network).

Eagle will then pass things off to his son, play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle (NBC Sports), for the Texans' matchup against the Ravens at NRG Stadium in Houston. Greg Olsen (FOX Sports) will serve as the analyst alongside Eagle, while Jamie Erdahl (NFL Network) and Steve Wyche (NFL Network) will be on the sidelines. Take a sneak peek at our on-air talent with our confirmed booth talent in Washington, D.C. and Minneapolis.

Additional on-air talent names to be announced in the weeks to come. Netflix's NFL Christmas Gameday 2024 reached 65 million U.S. viewers, according to Nielsen. Netflix delivered the two most streamed NFL games in U.S. history with an average audience of over 26.5 million viewers in the U.S. and over 30 million viewers globally, highlighted by Beyoncé's epic halftime performance.

The game will be available globally to Netflix subscribers in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. In keeping with the NFL's long-standing holiday tradition, the Netflix Christmas Day games will air on CBS affiliates in the competing team cities and be available on U.S. mobile devices with NFL+. CBS Sports will produce the games, with NFL Media producing the pre, post, and studio halftime programming. EverWonder Studio will executive produce NFL Christmas Gameday. "The streaming company announced CBS Sports will handle game production, while NFL Media will oversee pregame, postgame and halftime studio coverage"

Netflix is celebrating the Christmas holiday streaming an NFL doubleheader featuring two marquee NFC rivalry matchups. The Dallas Cowboys will face the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Detroit Lions meeting the Minnesota Vikings at 4:30 p.m. ET at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The streaming company announced CBS Sports will handle game production, while NFL Media will oversee pregame, postgame and halftime studio coverage.

The move marks the second straight year Netflix has carried the league’s holiday slate after its debut last season. As the platform expands its live sports footprint, Netflix plans to lean heavily on a roster of familiar NFL voices. Ian Eagle and his son, Noah Eagle, will return to call the action along with Netflix Sports Club host Kay Adams. Former NFL stars Drew Brees, Manti Te’o and Nate Burleson will also be part of the on-air team. Additionally, Netflix is adding Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, Commanders running back Austin Ekeler and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins to its holiday lineup. The company said the expanded cast is designed to deliver a blend of traditional football analysis and entertainment-focused storytelling.

The second NFL broadcast on Netflix is going to look a lot different than the first. At least as far as the talent is concerned, with ESPN and Fox reportedly no longer allowing their broadcasters (with one exception) to be a part of the streamer’s Christmas Day showcase. On Tuesday, Netflix officially announced its broadcasting plans for next month’s doubleheader. And as expected, there are plenty of changes from last year’s debut, which drew rave reviews from both a talent and production standpoint. As had previously been reported by Front Office Sports, Netflix’s two broadcast teams will feature Ian Eagle, Matt Ryan and Nate Burleson on the call for the 1 p.m. ET game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders and Noah Eagle and Drew Brees calling the Detroit Lions vs.

Minnesota Vikings at 4:30 p.m. ET. Compared to last year’s Netflix broadcast, Ryan will replace J.J. Watt, who is now the No. 2 game analyst for CBS, with Brees taking the spot that Fox’s Greg Olsen filled opposite Noah Eagle last Christmas. While Brees recently joined Fox as its No.
