NEW YORK (WABC) -- Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo conceded New York City's Democratic mayoral primary to self-described Democratic Socialist state Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday night. The race's outcome will still be decided by a ranked-choice count but the 33-year-old front-runner remains in a commanding position. Tuesday night, Mamdani pulled ahead with more than an estimated 80% of ballots counted. The Democrat ran on an agenda for free buses, health care and more affordable housing which gained traction with voters. With victory all but assured, Mamdani told supporters, "I will be your Democratic nominee for the mayor of New York City."
