The main home page provides news, weather, sports, finance and other content curated from hundreds of different sources that Microsoft has partnered with.[2] MSN is based in the United States and offers international versions... The first version of MSN originally launched on August 24, 1995, alongside the release of Windows 95,[4] as a subscription-based dial-up online service called The Microsoft Network; it later became an Internet service provider... Also around this time, the company launched a new web portal named Microsoft Internet Start and set it as the default home page of Internet Explorer, its web browser. In 1998, Microsoft renamed and moved this web portal to the domain name msn.com, where it has remained since.[5] Microsoft subsequently used the "MSN" brand name for a wide variety of products and services over the years, notably MSN Hotmail (later Outlook.com), MSN Messenger (which was once synonymous with "MSN" in Internet slang),... In 2014, Microsoft reworked and relaunched the MSN website and suite of apps offered.[6] Following a partial rebranding of the website to Microsoft Start beginning in 2021, the company reversed course in 2024 and...
From 1995 to 1998, the MSN.com domain was primarily used by Microsoft to promote The Microsoft Network as an online service and Internet service provider. During that period of time, MSN.com also offered a "Custom Start Page" and an Internet tutorial, but Microsoft's major public web portal of that era was known as "Microsoft Internet Start" and was located... Internet Start served as the default home page for Internet Explorer and offered basic information such as news, weather, sports, stocks, entertainment reports, links to other websites on the Internet, articles by Microsoft staff... Microsoft's original news website, MSNBC.com, which launched in 1996 (and was later divested by Microsoft as NBCNews.com), was also tied closely to the Internet Start portal. UPDATE 2: they finally rolled back the “back button” issue too! App is fixed! Hurrah!UPDATE: The “Welcome to the MSN” problem has been fixed! The app still doesn’t let you click “back” in the browser from links on the Bing rewards page, but I will still put my review up to a four, as the “Welcome” screen was... If they correct the “back” button issue, I’ll go back to a five!(Original review follows) I loved the Bing app and used it everyday. Unfortunately when they “updated” it to this “MSN” app, they made it so, so much worse.
Anytime you click on an article, when you click “back” it brings you to the “WELCOME TO THE MSN” screen that you have to click “continue” to get back to the homepage. It also GOT RID OF the “Back” button for any links you click in the “Bing rewards” section. There’s just an X to click instead, which—surprise, surprise, also brings you right back to that infuriating “WELCOME TO THE MSN” page. It’s basically impossible to navigate the app now without clicking that “continue” button every minute or so. Very disappointing. I’ll update this review if and when they fix it.
Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. The issue regarding being redirected to the 'Welcome to MSN' screen has been addressed. Please update to the latest version and give it a try. Thank you for your understanding and support! Ugh where to begin. I’ll just stick with the first screen to you once starting the app.
The continue screen. Every time I start the app that MSM screen is always present, I click continue get to the main page. Then I click on an article read it click the back button and what to I get? The MSN screen again. I get this screen over and over again. I look at my profile I click the back button and get that nag screen again, because that’s what it is now.
A nag screen. Even though I’m using a paid Microsoft account and clicked continue. When it was Start it was great it was my go to app for internet and AI. Now it’s more of a pain than anything else. I haven’t even started on the blank page you get when you click a reference from returned from CoPilot then click the back button and you just get a black screen. Did you guys do any bug testing??
